Chrome 77, "always open these types of links in the associated app" is missed!!! 3 Recommended Answers 145 Replies 740 Upvotes

In Chrome 77 the checkbox or option for "always open these types of links in the associated app" is no longer displayed for URL custom protocols. Now the user does not have any way to hide that dialog each time a URL Custom protocol is invoked.

Local protocol, local handler, local referring page. Should be no need to -
Open URL:XXXX Protocol? --> Click !Cancel

Went through the GPE --> google|google chrome|...|content settings|register protocol handlers
Made things worse by globally applying the registered protocol to all other browsers. With default 'false' and the registry cleaned out it still didn't work. Either have to click !cancel or use other browsers - for now.

Worked beautifully up to 77

We are having the same problem and rely on custom protocol handlers. Without the checkbox, it is an annoyance to our end users.

I agree, we're facing the same problem when using an URI call to open our client, it's annoying.
Thanks for opening the bug.
