Facebook Live won't work. Chrome says camera access was blocked but it isn't and won't work. 1 Recommended Answer 95 Replies 339 Upvotes

I have signed out of all accounts. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have reset settings multiple times although they always were on "allow" when I checked access given. I have clicked the lock on the left side of the url and made certain everything was on "allow."

Also, when I try to use Facebook Live on Safari or on Firefox, I get the message that I need to use Facebook Live on the latest version of Chrome. WHAT THE HECK? Here are screenshots to show camera and mic were not blocked.  Second attachment says camera and mic are allowed but you can see it is still blocked.

I am having the same problem. This started happening to me at the end of July 2019. I am using Linux Mint. I've also tried other browsers and I keep getting a message to use Chrome. I use Chrome and it can't find the camera even though I've unblocked everything. I am a business owner that relies on FB Live to reach my followers. I can get this to work on Windows 10... very frustrating!

Same here.  Using Cyberlink Youcam and it worked for about 2 weeks.  Folks there have given me all sorts of fixes to try but nothing works.   I've reinstalled 3 times.  I've gotten rid of Chrome but it directs me back.   Doesn't anyone know how to fix this out there?

Same issue, have spent WAY too much time on this. Every YouTube video is wrong on the fix, it is NOT blocked, and FB Live REQUIRES Chrome, but Chrome says the camera is blocked, when it ISN'T, it works for anything else. I keep having to use an iPad Pro for FB Live, when I want to use my computer. So stinking annoying!!! I have deleted and reinstalled /updated everything.

GRRRRRR

Fixed it. Called Apple and reloaded the operating system Catalina and it fixed the glitch. Love Apple they called me back in less than a minute and helped right away. Google and Microsoft can’t be bothered to respond to our support calls. Hope this helps.

I got this to work. Go to Facebook and to the screen where you want to broadcast. Click on the little lock symbol on your URL that says facebook.com.....
That should open up your settings and you can allow access to facebook to see your camera and microphone.

I had the same problem. But realised the problem was my mic settings was blocking facebook for some strange unknown reason. I unblocked it. And retried. Facebook was immediately prompting me to allow both camera and mic. So checking both your microphone and camera access on your mac may help. Good luck.

Thank you @Juliet Pang. Tried a lot of different things - for me once I switched microphone access on, it allowed the video through. Poor design on Facebook's part, since they have no need of my mic access, since I'm only sharing video through the computer (audio through an interface). But this worked - thank you Juliet.

The problem is probably if you have more than one device that Chrome can count as a webcam, and it's grabbing the wrong one, and not letting you change it.

Hi guys, I have worked out a fix for this....

open chrome, log into facebook and get to the point you are ready to stream (with the error)
now open FaceTime (this gets the camera active),
go back to facebook and click on the camera icon and it should show the pop up for permissions...

You should be good to go then..  let me know

Where do you exactly enable "two factor authentication"?

I have set permissions for Facebook to use my camera and mic and I still keep getting the error:

"You have blocked camera access. To go live, please update your browser settings to allow access.
Retry"

Its under account, settings & privacy, settings, security and login. It requires a code sent via text when you logon to a pc that you have not used for Facebook. It allows saving the code for the browser being used. It was the only change i made and the camera started working.

So, the problem I had was that I had used another camera/other software to stream and when I changed it, FB and Chrome had a fit. I'll explain.

tldr: reset the cache and possibly turn your camera settings on and off on Windows 10.

I had been using the 'Use camera' setting to stream using just my PCs cam. I then changed to using a stream key with OBS software. On OBS I was using my PC cam *AND* an app called iVCam to stream from my iPhone as well (so that I could have two visual sources basically). Unrelated, but I was having issues with my WiFi so I switched back to 'use camera' and not using OBS to test whether using OBS was using more of my bandwidth. This is when the problem occured and Chrome said that it was allowing my camera but FB was saying I needed to allow it.

In short, I did two things although I'm not actually which fixed the problem but there's no harm in doing both. First, I turned my camera access off on Windows 10 completely. Then I turned it back on again. Secondly, I reset the cache on Chrome. Basically, just switch everything you possibly can off and then on again.

Hey look im having issues with my Chromebook and Facebook live Im getting this message "
The browser you're using doesn't support the camera feature in Live Producer. Update your browser and download the latest beta version of Chrome here or use Firefox to go live. As a reminder, Live Producer is not fully supported in Safari, Internet Explorer, or older versions of Edge."
I have updated my browswer to the newset version. I have tried downloading the new beta chrome but none is compatiable with the Chrome OS. So since my business is online here on FACEBOOK im unable to do any live streams which is going to cut into myprofits!!! I have parties set up that is how i make my money through my company I cant do these live parties if i cant get my video to work.

Same problem here. It worked just fine yesterday afternoon but today morning, it is not working. I tried different explorers but they say camera and microphone access have an issue. So, I think this is a Facebook problem rather than a Chrome problem. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Literally just happened to me today, too.  Have been using Chrome for Facebook Live since the end of March.  Used it and yesterday and it worked fine, but this morning said that the browser wasn't supported and to update, but there is no way to update.

I downloaded the chrome beta, once I went to FB and selected to go live, Chrome immediately asked for access.

I allowed it all and went live with no issues.
