PDFs don't open automatically

You can normally open PDFs automatically in Chrome by clicking on the file you want to see. If your PDFs are downloading instead of opening automatically in Chrome, Chrome PDF viewer may have been turned off.

Turn on Chrome PDF viewer:

  1. Go to chrome://plugins
  2. Under "Chrome PDF Viewer," click Enable PDF viewing.

Chrome will now open PDFs automatically when you click on them.

NPAPI plugins don't work on Chrome version 42 and higher

Some plugins may not load as we are no longer supporting NPAPI plugins on Chrome version 42 and higher by default. For more information, please see our blog announcement.

There is a temporary workaround if you want to run a NPAPI plugin:

  1. Go to chrome://flags/#enable-npapi
  2. Choose Enable.
  3. In the bottom left corner of your screen, click Relaunch Now.

This change will allow you to run NPAPI plugins until Chrome version 45. After Chrome 45, you will have to use an alternate web browser to load content that requires a NPAPI plugin.
