Astromenda.com

Unsure which version of Chrome you are using? Type chrome://version into your omnibox (where the URL is) and your Chrome version number will be listed on the first line.

Have you checked our known issues page? If your issue is not there, please provide a detailed description here: Has anyone run into issues with a website astromenda.com attaching itself to Chrome?  This seems to be a phishing site of some kind.  When I open Chrome two tabs open up; google.com and astromenda.com.  Astromenda looks just like the google search page except it doesn't say
'google' accross the top.  I'm sure it is wanting me to use it as my browser so it can phish for info.  I scanned my system using my anti virus software, and I also scanned with malwarebytes and superantispyware.  None of these were able to remove it.  I was able to get it to stop coming up by resetting my browser settings, but I am worried it is still embedded in my system somewhere.  Another thing that was interesting about it is that it seemed to have attached itself to my google account.  It first happened on my laptop.  I immediately stopped using my laptop and went to my desktop to try and search for 'astromenda'.  As soon as I opened chrome on my desktop I got the same two tabs; google.com and astromenda.com.  I am tech savvy on an intermediate level at best.  Any help?

Thank you for reporting this and Welcome to Chrome Forum ! It seems like some is kind of adware/malware program has been installed on your computer

Have you checked these things ?
  • Uninstall any suspicious program which recently installed on your computer. Note : Sometimes, these malwares installed by legitimate names!
  • Also Remove any Unwanted & suspicious browser extensions from Google Chrome (If any) : Remove Extensions
