Can't log in to some sites1 Recommended Answer
The sites I can't login into are my bank and a number of login sites at my university. When I enter my login and password and press enter, the login and password just disappear or I'm redirected to another login page.
However, the first time I try to login, it might work, but not after that.
This began the afternoon of Tuesday, September 24.
I can login into other sites, such as Gmail, Yahoo mail, Wordpress, Facebook, and Twitter, among other places.
I've cleared my browsing history, download history, cookies, and cache. I've even done a system restore to a time when Chrome was working properly.
I'm using Chrome 29.01547.66 m with Windows 7.
Extensions include: Weather Channel, Advanced SystemCare Surfing Protection, bitly, and Ghostery. I've tried disabling those, but I still had the same problem.
Thank you for any help,
Here's what I did:
1. Open a Chrome window with the site you are unable to login to.
2. Open up a second window and with this in the URL: chrome://extensions/
3. Put them side by side
4. Un-check the 1st Enabled extension
5. Refresh the 1st window and try logging in
6. If it fails, re-enable the extension
7. Repeat steps 4, 5, 6 for all extensions until you can login
8. Once you've found the suspect extension, click on the garbage bin icon to delete it.
I hope that helps.
When I clear my cookies, I get able to log on those sites for some minutes...
Then, can't login anymore...
Not sure how to fix this though and any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the kind words. It sounds like you might have a slightly different problem than the one discussed here. i.e login brings back an error, rather than doing nothing at all.
If you've already tried it with extensions disabled, I'd say your next step is a full un-install and re-install of Chrome. When you re-install, don't log-in to Google sync or install any extensions before testing it out with your bank accounts.
