your preferences file is corrupt or invalid google chrome is unable to recover

Chrome Version (type about:version into your omnibox):latest
Operating System (Windows 7
Extensions (type Chrome:extensions into your omnibox): none

"your preferences file is corrupt or invalid
google chrome is unable to recover your settings"

Tried the instructions to rename the Default folder
Tried completely uninstalling Chrome. The problem keeps coming back.
I lost all my bookmarks too as a result of these poorly thought out solutions.
Chrome used to behave. what happened?

Figured it out...
CCleaner is corrupting parts of Chrome.
Update to the latest version of CCleaner to see if it resolves the issue.

I tryed so many things to get this solved.
Your suggestion about Ccleaner led me to try that out also.
After first importing my bookmarks to Firefox, then deleting all Chrome settings here https://www.google.com/settings/chrome/sync , then testing which setting in Ccleaner corrupted my backup.
Testing them all I found that only one I needed to switch off and keep switched off in Ccleaner under "Applications" > "Google Chrome" is "Internet History".

Then just took a little while to import back the bookmarks from Firefox and seems that my problems is solved for now

Version 34.0.1847.11 beta-m  and most recent Stable build as well

i've completely uninstall all of chrome all folders everything reinstalled with the stable build still have the issue. i've tried uninstalling that and removing the folders and files the uninstaller doesn't even take care of and that didn't work i've tried the reset option i've made sure ccleaner doesn't even touch chrome (always have had it like that)
so far no matter what i've tried i get this error.
i am at a complete loss on how to resolve this issue i've seen other people have this issue dating back to 2011. and recently having the issue with ccleaner corrupting it some how.

this issue is extremely annoying and i've tried everything i could find via google search.
