jeremys.devI'm just going to confirm that `SHIFT+DEL` from within the address bar works.
It may make a difference if you start typing until the result shows in the list, then use the arrow keys to select that entry (so the cursor is at the end of the url in the address bar), then press SHIFT+DEL.

Tomoya KawasakiHi everyone,
Shift+Delete (Fn+Shift+Delete on Mac laptops) is only applicable to items that have a globe icon in front of it in the address bar. As Karl.Honky and other who have mentioned that to delete history, you'll need to clear your browser history.
If you don't want to clear "all" your history, you can do the following:
1. Type chrome:history into the address bar.
2. Search for the specific history entry.
3. Click Edit items on the upper right corner - checkbox will appear in front of the history entries.
4. Select the checkbox for the entries that you'd like to delete.
5. Click Remove selected items.
6. Click Done removing items to complete. The entry won't show up in your address bar again.
Thanks,

†Tommy G.†Try...clicking the wrench icon, choose 'options', choose 'under the hood', and uncheck the box that says 'Use a suggestion service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar'.

BapabooieeWhat Dragontatt said (Wrench Menu >> Options >> Under the hood >> Uncheck the "'Use a suggestion service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar" checkbox)
But you can also delete individual items, rather than disabling the entire thing.
To do this, go to a text box, click it once with your mouse, and use the arrow keys to select an item. Then simply press the Delete key to delete any item you wish.
If you wanna disable suggestions completely, you can't go wrong with this:
Right-click your Chrome shortcut on your desktop or whatever, and go to "Properties", in the "Target" textbox, append "--omnibox-popup-count=0" to the end.
"C:\Users\Bapa\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --omnibox-popup-count=0

Ooops, you were talking about the address bar, not auto-complete.

JECShackOk, I also have an idea but let's summed everything at the top
A. Turn off the Suggestion Service
1. Click the Wrench icon, then select Options
2. In Under the Hood tab at the Privacy section, unchecked Use a suggestion service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar.3. Close
B. Zeroing the Pop Up Count using the command line
This would trick the address bar to display zero results.
1. Go to Google Chrome icon, the one that you used to launch Chrome, right-click on it then select Properties
2. In Shortcut tab at Target, add a --omnibox-popup-count=0 (do not insert inside the quotation marks)
3. OK
C. Changing the Search Engine's URL
Google Chrome by default used a customized Google's search URL that would allow to show search and URL suggestions, we can change it by following this format:
1. Go to Wrench icon, select Options
2. In Basics tab at Default search, click Manage.
3. Select Google in the list then click Edit
4. Highlight the URL then replace it with this new one:
5. OK

JECShackhi drbippy, sorry to keep you waiting; we're not in the different time zones as you may know. (I'm only awake during your night time)
Anyway, it seems that Default Search engine are not the same on different versions and looks like you're using Chrome 2.1. Wrench icon, select Options
2. Basics tab at Default search, click Manage
3. Press Add,
4. In Name, type Google5. Right-click the link in my reference [1] and select Copy Link Address
6. Paste the link I've provided in URL and press OK
7. Select your new Google on the list and press Make Default.
If you want to remove your old Google, select it and press Remove
8. Close
