An update about the new bookmarks manager

Hi Everyone,

Our team is committed to improving Chrome’s bookmarks experience, but for the time being, we’ve decided to bring back the previous version. Our team will continue to explore other ways to improve the bookmarks experience. You’ll see the previous version of the bookmarks manager return to your Chrome browser shortly.

For those of you who enjoyed using the new bookmarks manager, you can still keep the new experience by downloading the Bookmarks Manager extension from the Chrome Web Store.

We appreciate hearing all of your thoughtful feedback. Feel free to leave us with any additional comments here in this thread.

Best,

The Chrome team

In the words of the great Etta James..... "At laaaasssst".

Now... What makes y'all think the existing bookmark system even needs improvement?
What complaints have you been getting?   Give me a clue. Maybe if I think about awhile
I can something that's been bothering me or I think would be a good addition.

Separators.
All you need to do to the traditional bookmark manager is to spend two hours adding a proper separators feature to make thousands of people happy.

A word, and a decent one.
Thank you.

It's all so many of  us have been asking for.
The ability to choose between the previous bookmarks and the "new bookmarks experience" and have our choice allowed to stand.

" Our team will continue to explore other ways to improve the bookmarks experience."
Gently, gently, slowly, slowly.
Consider the option that sending them all on holiday* might actually increase the happiness of more chrome users than anything they might actually DO, given this latest attempt at "improvement". At least until they've truly twigged where and why they went so badly awry.

(*to somewhere unpleasant? No, I'm not that cruel, though it's tempting,.)

When will this be implemented. Unfortunately, in editing my bookmarks bar today, I removed a folder and now can't find any of the folders and the hundreds of work related bookmarks which the folders contained. Oy.  Any advice.

I think you rolled it out too soon. It looks great but it lacked functionality. Here are a few things "In my opinion" I consider functionally worthy:

  1. I should be able to share a Bookmark from my Bookmark Bar just by right clicking and selecting an option from the existing pop-up menu.
  2. Why do I have to create a folder in Bookmark Manager to be able to share it when I can't see that folder on my Bookmark Bar.
  3. When I share a Folder in Bookmark Manager why can't the people I share with add links to the folder, similar to sharing a Google Drive Folder, I'd like them to contribute as well.
  4. How about adding a 'Right Click' menu.
  5. When I click on the 'Share this folder' a pop-up showing a button to access my contacts would be convenient or even a box to add email addresses would be great with a message box as well, just like the pop-up when sharing a file on Google Drive.
  6. The 'Auto folders' are redundant to my already saved Bookmarks.
  7. Inherit the KISS method and stick to it.
  8. Get feedback before going live or ask for Beta testers.

Could you implement an interface similar to savemybookmarks.com that works across browsers?

The new bookmark manager is confusing for me. I am stressed out trying to find things. Bring the previous bookmark manager back, please!

I hope the latest update (updown) which ever will correct the problem with the version .81 which was replicating several folder in the Bookmark manager. I tried deleting the but they would reproduce just as fast as I was deleting them. Never sure if I was helping the problem or making it worse. I hope the later version corrects this problem.

Levels

Member levels indicate a user's level of participation in a forum. The greater the participation, the higher the level. Everyone starts at level 1 and can rise to level 10. These activities can increase your level in a forum:

  • Post an answer.
  • Having your answer selected as the best answer.
  • Having your post rated as helpful.
  • Vote up a post.
  • Correctly mark a topic or post as abuse.

Having a post marked and removed as abuse will slow a user's advance in levels.
