Rupert RayesRemoving Google Chrome notification icon from taskbar
1 Recommended AnswerHello,
Chrome was recently updated to version 35.After that I noticed a little bell icon on my already crowded taskbar, on the right side.Is there any way to disable this icon?I do not find it useful.I used to get a notification from an extension and a popup window would appear on the bottom-right side of the page and it would stay there until I manually closed it.Then it would completely go away without a trace after closing it.That was a very nice design.
Now the bell icon is always on taskbar for no reason which is already too crowded on my case.I clicked on the setting button within the bell icon and chose to disable notifications from all extensions and now they are completely gone. The bell icon no longer appears but I don't get a visual notification from extension anymore. Is there any ways to revert back to the previous style when Chrome would show a popup window without adding anything on the computer taskbar ?
Thanks Google :)

Pete-o-peteSame here. Today the icon started appearing in the system tray again, and nothing I do gets rid of it. I have absolutely zero interest in having it.

Google user following your suggestions Omkar:
- Click the dumb azz bell
in the lower right corner of your computer screen - the systray
- In the Notifications Center, click the gear icon on the bottom right corner
- Uncheck the box next to everything.
NOW THE RIDICULOUS NOTIFICATION BELL IS GONE. THANKS OMKAR!

Google userbe sure to turn off notifications in settings - privacy - content settings.
and when you go to:
chrome://flags/#enable-rich-notifications
start with reset all to default on the far right
when finished you might want to go back into
chrome://flags/#enable-rich-notifications
and make changes for your setup
