Copy and paste issues

I love google chrome. I downloaded it a few days ago and now it's my my primary browser. It's way faster and has a nicer look than other browsers. I've come across one snag however. If I try to highlight something begins or ends with a bracket, it will automatically highlight just the word in brackets instead, no matter how hard I try to highlight the brackets it just won't do it. This has been a problem for me as a frequent a few forums that use brackets to denote quotes. Also if someone posts a youtube clip, and at the end of the clip they have the url, say I want to copy and past it into my browser so I can see more stuff that may be on that particular account, it won't copy and paste the entire URL. This hasn't been a big problem, but it's incredibly irritating. I would recommend fixing this in the next updated version of chrome. Also, try putting in an option so the user can decide what color the top bar is. I use XP and the default is blue, which isn't bad but honestly I'd like maybe a different color. It would be a cool add on, in my opinion.

Can you post an example of both issues that you have with copy/paste please?

The best I can do for the YouTube url copy and paste problem is describe it. I tried doing it earlier and it wouldn't copy the url at all. I selected the entire thing, was given the option to copy, clicked that, but it still wouldn't copy. For the problem with the forums in general, a typical command to put a piece in a quotation box is denoted like
and to end quote
when I try to select
and right click to copy, it automatically selects just the word quote, leaving off the bracket and slash. I dunno how better I can describe it.

I believe this happens because of the spell checker. When you right click anywhere in the text box, it selects the word you are currently pointing to (and omits anything beside it, including the brackets).

The only thing I can suggest is to use keyboard shortcuts to Cut (Ctrl+X), Copy(Ctrl+C) or Paste (Ctrl+V) after selecting the text (instead of right click menu items.) That way the selection will not change.

I have experienced Chrome 2.0.157.2 problems with copy, paste & cut too. But it is not just limited to within Chrome, the Windows clipboard appears to stop working until I close Chrome, then it works once Chrome is closed. Keyboard shortcuts, or right click do not work.

This is not easy to re-produce for me as it only happens about three times a week, but very annoying all the same as it disables the clipboard in Windows across every application until I shut down Chrome.

I'm having the same problem, it's coinciding with a similar problem in Firefox. I'm using Chromium. I can't copy anything in Chrome or Firefox. Tid bit annoying.

Well, I've been searching for a solution for the missing copy/paste functionality for months now. Works fine in IE6/7 when I close Crome. The copy function is active in the "actions on this page" meny, but does not work either.

look forward to ar solution, as I like crome to everything except homebanking. (It doesn't like the java ;( )

I also have the copy and paste issue. As soon as a close chrome it all works fine, but as soon as I open chrome I am unable to copy from chrome and paste anywhere else. Sometimes copy and paste wont work at all in any application. This is extremely frustrating.

This is a known issue, some people have this. So the only thing is to wait, until a solution is being developed.

I've had this problem from day one with Chrome, I right click on highlighted text then click copy and then when I Right click to paste it hasn't been copied. Now after reading everyones posts I see I'm not the only one but some times if I click copy 4 or 5 times it will copy and then let me paste but that gets old real quick. As for the clip board not working in any other programs either, I have not had the problem, guess I'm just lucky in the respect. Dejan1024 seems to be right, keyboard shortcuts are the only thing that work for now, I much prefer the right click method but I love Chrome to much to give it up over such a small issue.

Thanks. I tried that, but the problem reappeared.

My symptom is that sometimes copy/paste fails -- in the current instance I copied text from Firefox to Notepad++ to make some edits. I copied the edited text from Notepad, but the copy back to Firefox failed -- just nothing when I typed Control-V in the Firefox form.

What does this have to do with Chrome, you ask? Well over the last several months when I've experienced such a problem, simply closing Chrome makes the paste go through fine. [Chrome was open because I needed two browser sessions mostly to access Google apps from two different accounts that cannot be linked -- the user authorization system in Google is a whole 'nother question.]

Definitely annoying.
