Hi mohanish ,

Welcome to the Chrome Forum! I'll try my best to help.

Start Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL) and "Kill" (or "End Process) all "Chrome.exe" tasks. Click on the "Image Name" tab to organize by task name.

Note: You will need Windows Administrator privileges to perform the following.. This can be accomplished by right-clicking on Windows Explorer Icon and selecting "Run As".

Delete the program directory "Application" folders:
  • %PROGRAMFILES%\Google\Chrome
  • %PROGRAMFILES%\..\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome   ( if present)
Hit Windows Key-R, highlight and copy the directory path above into the box, and hit <enter>
Delete the "Application" folder..

Then try to re-install Chrome.
If it will not install in this link,
Try an Alternate Offline Installer ... https://support.google.com/installer/answer/126299?hl=en

Let me know if this helps.

Gary

Hit <enter>

Click on "Chrome" folder
Select "Application" folder, right-click and select "Delete".

Laura,

Try completely uninstalling all parts of Chrome and then reinstall...

First, create a Restore point with SYSTEM RESTORE.

Close Chrome and wait for termination.
Use Task Manager verify or to "Kill" all instances of Chrome.exe that will not terminate normally..

Note: Make sure you have another browser on your computer (i.e. FireFox) that works.
Try completely removing all parts of Chrome with Revo Uninstaller (run it several times to make sure) {Documentation} ... then reinstall Chrome Stable.
