How to stop getting "SPDY Protocol Error" in Google Chrome?

I occasionally get the "SPDY Protocol Error" in Google Chrome (windows 7 64 bit), and I'm not sure why. I've viewed this discussion: /chrome/forum/AAAAP1KN0B0hKqBBn6_phM

However, it doesn't help at all, because when I view the URL, all I see is this: ( https://i.gyazo.com/a6978410257df50de86b689239d1b46e.png )

The only solution I've found (that is temporary) is to click the arrow in the top right and click "Flush Sockets", but I want a permanent solution if at all possible.

Hi Sihplak,

Thank you for posting on the forum. Have you tried upgrading your current version of Chrome to 46-Stable? Go ahead and try that out and let me know if it works.

Cheers,

Yusuf

Sorry for the late reply, forgot about this for a while until it occurred again. I've had Google Chrome on the stable version for a while now, so that's not the problem

Would you mind providing the URL that causes the "SPDY Protocol Error" so we can help test?

I'll give you one: reddit.com.

This isn't much of a secret, but nobody has a fix.

Reddit is definitely the site where I encounter the error most frequently, but I've also had it happen on occasion on other sites, but very rarely.

For me it constantly happens while I'm on Tumblr, it gets really irritating at times, the only way to fix it is to completely restart my computer. Is there another way?

Use:
chrome://net-internals/#sockets

And "Flush Socket Pools". Only a temporary fix, you may need to do it again after a while.

Considering swapping to another browser, no fix yet?

This problem has been in existence since July 2015...I am really surprised that they have not fixed this problem yet. Mine happens at least once a day and always on Facebook.com

Disabling the HTTP scanning thing from avast! has reduced the frequency of the issue significantly, but I still get it, albeit rarely.
