Why can't I cut and paste text into the Chrome Browser?

I often write the text of my emails in a word processor and then cut and paste it into my email program. Since downloading Chrome, I can't do that anylonger and have to shift back to Firefox to send any emails requiring a transfer of information using cut and paste. What can be done about that?

What email program are you using?  I can cut and paste from another application to Chrome. What error do you get when you paste? What version of Chrome are you using?

I'm using openoffice as a word processor and I'm a recent user of Chrome so
assume it's the latest version. When I cut, nothing pastes into an email in
the Chrome browser. There is no error message. However, that same cut works fine
elsewhere so it has to be Chrome and a friend of mine has experienced the same problem.

I'm using another email server but I heard gmail doesn't work with it either. I really think we need to hear from google staff rather than wait for some other user to figure it out. Where do you go for actual help with the program? I'm disabled and take a long time to create emails so I need to write them on my word processor and cut/paste them into email. This isn't going to work for me if I have to use another browser for that purpose.

I did some testing and found some interesting behaviors. I'm on the dev channel and I tried copying text from both MS Word 2007 and Open Office 3.1.0 into Gmail and got the following results:

Copying text from MS Word 2007 into Gmail opened in Chrome: Text successfully copied and pasted.

Copying text from Open Office 3.1.0 into Gmail opened in Chrome: Text failed to paste into Gmail's default text editor (the rich text formatting editor). Switching Gmail to use plain text formatting allowed me to successfully copy and paste from Open Office to Gmail.

onepinksheep, thanks for the testing. Wonder why Open Office is not compatible with Rich Text format in Gmail?

I just checked.  Pasting OpenOffice text to Gmail Rich Text is a known issue.  Google developers are working on fixing the problem.

In the meantime, turn off Rich Formating when pasting.

Oh well, guess we will have to wait two years to get it fixed.

I've seen the problem with Google Chrome Frame running within IE 8.

At least temporarily, clearing my cache did seem to help.

Thanks JackieH !!
