Google Chrome won't load after start up, getting "page is unresponsive" messages

Yesterday in the morning I was browsing the web on Chrome, checking the news and such. I then went to work, and when I came back, Chrome was completely unusable.

I would try to open a webpage, and it would stay blank. If I click anywhere, the page would immediately freeze and it would say that Google Chrome is not responding. I tried running it on administrator, and the issue remained. I then restarted my computer and tried again. Same thing.

I did a google search for this issue and saw some suggestions. Running a scan for malware/viruses. Uninstalling it, and then re-installing. Deleting cookies and clearing the cache. Renaming certain files at App Data. Nothing worked. What is happening? Google Chrome is my preferred browser since it's so simple to use. I've been using it for years, and now I'm forced to use Firefox.

Please help me fix this.

HI Vaporage and Colonclan,

Thanks for visiting the Chrome Forum! I'll certainly do my best to help.

It sounds like you might have a corrupt user profile. Follow the instructions on how to create a new user profile, but please be mindful of the instructions at the bottom of the page about transferring bookmarks. It can be done, but is not recommended since part of your old profile may be corrupt.

Please let me know if this helps.

Making a new profile does not work.  Nothing loads, no settings, no favs, nothing... just blank white.

That stopped the automatic freezing once I launch Google Chrome, but now the browser is extremely slow and I still get the unresponsive message for a few seconds. :\

This worked for me.

Over night, Chrome would not launch. No matter what I did I just could not get the browser to open.
Followed Michele's instructions ( found several processes running for G 32bit which I ended ), Hey presto! all up and running again.
We should all know that computers are the most unreliable pieces of machinery ever invented; great for doing what they are supposed to do but when they go wrong they become a Pain in the A. The secret is to know how to get around a problem. It's taken me 5 days to resolve my problem and I am still unsure whether it was of my own making, or whether there is a inherent problem with Google's own browser programme. I'm going to have a look at Firefox.
