After the latest update to chrome canary version 57.0.2975.0 today, canary will not open. All I see is the top bar then it closes.Checking task manager after this event I see two chrome.exe entries are running. Is anyone else having this problem? How will I update canary if I cannot run canary? I am on Windows 7 32bit and have no problems using the latest chrome version.

Hi advent,

Thanks so much for reporting this. Note that Canary is a very early version of Chrome that's still in the early phases of being tested and normally runs into issues like this (see the note on the Canary website about "Be forewarned: it's designed for developers and early adopters, and can sometimes break down completely.") It looks like this issue is already been reported this morning on our public bug tracker so I'd recommend comment on there so our team can get as many examples as possible to help look into this further.

Best,
Kameron

Edit: Marking this as "Best Answer" for now so this response is highlighted so you know how to get directly to the public bug in order to comment on it to go to our development team.

Hey there Kameron (or other Com Mngr) is there a way to force an update when the browser won't open? I have Canary running on my desktop and laptop. It is crashing on the desktop which is 57.0.2975.0 but on my laptop I see the version running is 57.0.2975.1 and it is working fine. Have rebooted both machines today but unable to get the desktop to update.

If you can't get it to automatically update because it keeps crashing, the best way so to do a clean uninstall, download the latest version off of the Canary website, and reinstall to get around this.

Same thing is happening with Canary Version 57.0.2976.0 on my 64-bit Windows 10 box.  Brand new install.  Browser opens just long enough to see top toolbar, then closes down.

I experience the same crash on Windows 7 x64 with Canary version 57.0.2976.0. Reïnstall does not solve the problem.

If the update still isn't available to you yet, I'd recommend commenting on the public bug that I linked to in my earlier post and provide any additional relevant details directly to the team so they're aware that you're running into this issue.

Thanks
