Chrome v71 - getting the old UI back - options?

Up until Chrome v70, the old UI was able to be restored using flags.

This is no longer possible in v71.

What are the options at this point. For me this is untenable. I am already researching brave, vivaldi, going back to firefox, etc, but is there really no hope that Chrome will not have the option for the previous (and fare better and more usable) UI.

Honestly, just put an option to put the old tab shape back The new shape causes problems - you cant visually feel them and the tab text gets crushed out. Its really inferior to the old shape and contrast.

Hi bhowes,

Anything in chrome://flags may be removed without prior notice, using flags to revert back to old design is simply delaying the inevitable truth that the new design is here to stay.

You are free to try other Chromium-based browsers.

That's incredibly insulting. Just because a change is made, doesn't mean that further changes can't follow--such as enabling a legacy icon set or the SQUARE TABS that other people much prefer.

"I don't like that the bank keeps sending notifications to my phone."
"Well, then you should get another bank."

And also, this new version of Chrome SUCKS

Excuse me, the thing posted before I finished...

And also, this new version of Chrome SUCKS because all the fonts have turned TINY. I zoom and zoom, and Chrome keeps adjusting so the font stays small while divs get bigger. Which means I have a narrow bar of text I'm trying to read while the rest of the screen is all looming blocks that are in my way. It's dumb.

The real question is why have centralized control of the UI?  The UI should be able to be skinned by themes - not just some of the browser, but all of it including the address bar, the menus, the way the chrome:// pages look as well.  We are not all in love with the ultra-white, space-wasting, eye killing "paper" look of Web 2.0.

Thank you again Dirk!  While I hate disabling updates for security reasons, I can't see which tab I'm using with this new update.  And thank you everyone else for your great ideas.
