Hi Djpete1959,

Thanks for posting on the Google Chrome Help Forum.

Just wanted to know if you've tried all the steps provided in this help article to fix the Chrome update problems. Having done that, if the issue still persists, just to make sure we eliminate malware from the scenario, I'd suggest you check for malware as unwanted programs can interfere with Chrome. Try our helpful Chrome Cleanup Tool to check for malware.

If you’re using an antivirus or firewall software, make sure Chrome is trusted or allowed by these programs. You can also try temporarily disabling your antivirus or firewall to see if this resolves the issue. Then, please try unchecking hardware acceleration (Menu > settings > Advanced settings > Under ’system’, Use hardware acceleration when available).

In case you're still facing the same issue, please uninstall and reinstall Chrome using the alternate installer to see if that helps.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,
Tina

Levels

Member levels indicate a user's level of participation in a forum. The greater the participation, the higher the level. Everyone starts at level 1 and can rise to level 10. These activities can increase your level in a forum:

  • Post an answer.
  • Having your answer selected as the best answer.
  • Having your post rated as helpful.
  • Vote up a post.
  • Correctly mark a topic or post as abuse.

Having a post marked and removed as abuse will slow a user's advance in levels.
