Bookmarks in folders not syncing properly

HI all,

Thank for your reports on bookmarks not properly syncing. We’ve merged multiple threads on this issue here so that we can update you in one place.

We have identified an issue in which bookmarks that were in folders, have had a problem with syncing (the bookmark bar is considered a folder by the system so you will see the same missing bookmarks there as well). The trend does seem to be that when you initiated some form of an update (mostly OS) or added an additional device, folder bookmarks did not transfer. We are actively working on this issue and have a fix we will be pushing over the next couple of days. This should not require you to take any further steps. We just ask for your patience as we work to get this resolved and live.

Thanks again,

Sarah

Edit: If you do not, please go to Chrome settings and disconnect your account, then sign into Chrome again.

For those seeing issues with mobile devices, can you please check if tabs from the desktop are showing up under menu -> "other devices" on android - this will indicate whether all of sync is stuck or if the issue is bookmarks. Please let us know here and we will continue to troubleshoot the issue.

If you see any further issues, please let us know by opening a new topic so we can look into this.

I have been having the same problem - and I lost all of my folders. Could you post when the change takes effect?

I'm experiencing this issue. Performed a clean install of Windows 8 on my laptop and bookmarks that were in folders have yet to sync. I tried disassociating and signing back in several times.

Experiencing the issue as well.  I've deleted and reorganized my bookmarks (while signed in), but any changes I make are reverting next time I sign in.  Of course I figured this out after doing a massive overhaul on years worth of bookmarks, ugh!

Thanks Sarah!

Nice to know that Google has acknowledged it as a bug so we can stop figuring out what's wrong with our devices :-)

Will you let us know when the issue is fixed so we can update immediately instead of having to wait for the Google updater service (assuming it's going to be a Chrome update)?

Me too.. I also tried signing in to all my laptops after I got my PC reformatted but unfortunately the bookmark folders are all gone and that happens when I re-install the chrome for the first type on my fresh PC..

This issue is not resolved - I still cannot get my bookmarks, and custom bookmark folders to sync across multiple devices. I have logged in & out multiple times, turned off syncing & cleared everything out and then signed back in & nothing works. The laptop I am on right now will not sync bookmarks with my pc at home.
