I can't install apps. The add to chrome button says "checking..."

Google Chrome version 15.0.874.121 (Official Build 109964) m:
Operating System:windows xp pro
Error Message:none
Extensions installed:favourite doodle, nokia maps 3d browser plugin, realplayer html5 video downloader, skype click to call

I,ve installed the angry birds app before. I deleted it and then tried to install the updated version today. after browsing it at the chrome webstore and I clicked "add to chrome. A prompt came up, I chose install and then I was asked to save a .crx file. After downloading the file nothing happened except that the "add to chrome" button had hanged to "checking..." (after refreshing the page, it goes back to add app again) Ive tried this for other apps and it does the same thing. I've disabled all my extensions and restarted several times, still nothing. What do I do.. pls help!

Make sure you Google Chrome is the default browser, and try to drag the crx file in you omnibar (url+search bar). Then click on install.

note:
Chrome extension/app update self automatic to the latest version.

I have the same problem.  Don't why it started, but I use the work-a-round from the post below.  I also have XP.

Hi Everyone,

For those of you posting on this thread recently, there is a more recent thread specifically discussing this, which you can view here. We've already pushed a fix for this so you shouldn't be seeing this issue any longer.

In addition, as this thread was initially started in 2011, and issues that come up now that look the same, likely have different causes, I am going to close this thread.

Thanks,
Jacky
