Push Bookmarks via Group Policy

Hiya All. Quick question. Considering the deployment of Chrome to our company. I've taken a look at the Group Policy templates that Google provides and was wondering, is there a way to push out company specific Chrome bookmarks via the GPO? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance

Hi ScarBod iv'e escalated this so hopefully someone form the enterprise team will contact you soon. Just a note that they are in america and lots of people take this week off so it could be a while.

Hi

I have the same issue...I have installed the ADMX file, but I do not see any options for publising bookmarks to Chrome, which is why I needed the GP template in the first case.

Any help appreciated.

So far the only way I had a thought of doing is loading Chrome from scratch, no bookmarks... Then create a bookmarks folder to load on the bookmarks toolbar and add the bookmarks I want.

Then go into the C:\Users\<UserID>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default folder and copy the Bookmarks file somewhere on the network that everyone has access to.

Then in the GPO at User\Preferences\Windows Settings\Files set it there. Problem I have, is that I can't get this to work consistently.

If I come up with a better way, I'll post it

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your feedback on managing bookmarks for enterprise accounts. At this time, there is no current policy that allows you to manage bookmarks. There are a few  workarounds that might help.

  1. You can create a 'bookmark' app, which is an app icon that links to a website of your choosing and can be pre-installed (since there is a policy to manage apps and extensions).
  2. Make use of the home page policy. You can enforce a home page that is basically just a page that lists all the bookmarks you would like users to have. You can find more information on the home page policy here.
Thanks again for your feedback on this feature.

That wouldn't even be a consideration within my company... I would be pushing out a 'home page' to be our corporate intranet site, like I would assume many (if not most) other companies would as well.

I've pretty much put the axe on allowing Chrome in our company, I don't believe it's Enterprise ready.
