Google Chrome has stopped working

Unsure which version of Chrome you are using? Type chrome://help into your omnibox (where the URL is). Your version number will be listed there along with the option to update if available.  Rittel: Since I an unable to even see Google Chrome, this is impossible.  I have no idea which version I am using.

Have you checked our known issues page? If your issue is not there, please provide a detailed description here:

I have used Google Chrome as a browser for several years.  There was an update to Google Chrome around the end of March 2014.  At that time, I received a flashed message that something or other was incompatible with my Windows Vista Home Edition. Since then Chrome has stopped working.  There is a very, very faint ghost image that flashes to the upper right corner of the screen when I click restore on the Chrome box on the bottom of the screen.  Then, nothing.  I really liked Google Chrome and am having no end of trouble with Explorer.  Can this be fixed or should I find another browser?

Thanks.
