Create application shortcuts

This feature is only available for Google Chrome on Windows and Linux.

You can create application shortcuts to websites that you regularly visit, as well as select apps that you've installed from the Chrome Web Store. These shortcuts can be placed on your computer desktop and menus for quick and easy access.

Create shortcuts for apps installed from Chrome Web Store

  1. Click the new tab icon at the top of the browser window to open the New Tab page.
  2. Right-click an app icon in the App section of the page.
  3. Select Create shortcuts.
  4. In the dialogue that appears, choose where you'd like the shortcuts to be placed on your computer.
  5. Click Create.

Create shortcuts for other apps

You can also create desktop shortcuts for other websites and apps you regularly use, even if they're not installed from the Chrome Web Store. Follow these steps:

  1. Click the Chrome menu Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
  2. Select Tools.
  3. Select Create application shortcuts.
  4. In the dialog that appears, choose where you'd like the shortcuts to be placed on your computer.
  5. Click Create.

When you double-click a shortcut icon, the app opens in a special streamlined window that doesn't display tabs, buttons, the address bar or menus. To access common page options, click the page logo in the top left corner of the window.
