Get predictions in the address bar
When you type in the address bar, Google Chrome can use your search engine to help you complete the web addresses and search terms you're looking for.
Remove specific predictions
If you don't want a particular prediction from your history in the address bar on your computer, you can delete it from your computer or Android phone or tablet.
Computer- Open Chrome.
- Start typing the suggestion you want to remove.
- Use your keyboard down arrow to highlight the URL.
- Remove the suggestion:
- Windows: Press Shift + Delete
- Mac: Press Shift + fn + Delete
- Chromebook: Press Alt + Shift + Backspace
- Open the Chrome app

- Start typing the suggestion you want to remove.
- Press and hold the result.
- In the box that pops up, touch OK.
- Open the Chrome app

- Start typing the suggestion you want to remove.
- Swipe left and click Delete.
Turn off predictions
If you don't want predictions from your search engine in the address bar on your computer, you can turn them off.
ComputerThe prediction service is typically turned on by default. To turn it off:
- Open Chrome.
- In the top right, click the Chrome menu

- Click Settings > Show advanced settings.
- In the "Privacy" section, uncheck Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar.
Remove matches from your browsing history and bookmarks
The address bar also shows matches from your browsing history and your bookmarks. Even if you turn off predictions, matches from your browsing history and your bookmarks will still appear in your search bar.
If you don't want to see this info in your predictions, clear your browsing history and delete your bookmarks.
The prediction service is typically turned on by default. To turn it off:
- Open the Google Chrome app

- Touch the Chrome menu, which might look like either three dots
or a tab
.
- Touch Settings > Privacy.
- Touch the checkbox next to Search and URL suggestions.

If you don't want to see this info in your predictions, clear your browsing history and delete your bookmarks.
