You can browse the web more privately in Incognito mode.
Open a link in Incognito mode
Open Incognito mode
Important: When you use an Incognito tab, you can browse more privately. You can switch between Incognito tabs and regular Chrome tabs.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome .
- Tap More New Incognito Tab .
- A new Incognito tab opens.
- To the left of the address bar, you’ll find the Incognito icon .
- To check if you're privately browsing, tap Switch tabs .
- To find if you have any open Incognito tabs, swipe right. An Incognito tab has the Incognito icon at the top.
Switch between Incognito and regular tabs

On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome .
- Tap Switch tabs .
- To switch between Incognito tabs and regular Chrome tabs , swipe right or left.
Open links in Incognito mode
When you open a link from another app or a text message, you can choose to open the link in an Incognito tab in Chrome.
Open all links in Incognito mode- On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome .
- Tap More Settings Privacy and Security.
- Turn Ask to open links from other apps in Incognito on or off.
- On your iPhone or iPad, tap a link you want to open in Chrome .
- Tap Open in Chrome Incognito.
Lock Incognito tabs when you switch between apps
Anyone who uses your device can access Incognito tabs left open. To keep your Incognito tabs open but hidden from other device users, you can lock your Incognito tabs.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome .
- Tap More Settings Privacy and Security.
- Turn on Lock Incognito tabs when you close Chrome.
Close Incognito mode
If you open another tab in Incognito mode, your private browsing session continues in the new tab. To exit, close all Incognito tabs.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome .
- Tap Switch tabs .
- At the top, tap the Incognito icon .
- On the left, select Edit Close All Tabs.
