Search the web in Chrome

You can quickly find what you’re looking for on the Internet, in your bookmarks, and in your browsing history. A Chrome feature might not be available if your default search engine doesn't support it.

1. On your Android device, open Chrome .
2. In the address bar, type your search.
3. Tap the result, Go, or Continue .

Tip: As you enter your search, you may get suggestions based on your web and app activity. You can delete suggestions from your search history or hide sections of suggestions based on your activity when they appear. Learn more about your activity.

Search by voice

If you search by voice often, the right of the search bar may display the shortcut Voice search . If it doesn't, and you want to add Voice search :

1. On your Android device, open Chrome .
2. Tap More Settings Toolbar shortcut.
3. Select Voice search.

Search within a page

You can find a specific word or phrase on a web page.

1. On your Android device, open Chrome .
2. Open a page.
3. At the top right, tap More Find in page.
4. Enter your search term.
5. Tap Search .
   • Matches are highlighted. To find all the matches on a page, use the markers on the scrollbar.

Search for words

You can find more info about a specific word or phrase on a page with Touch to Search.

Important: To use Touch to Search, Google must be set as your default search engine.

1. On your Android device, open Chrome .
2. Open a page.
3. To highlight a word on a page, tap it or touch and hold it.
4. To show search results for the highlighted word, tap the panel that opens at the bottom of the page.

Turn Touch to Search on or off

1. On your Android device, open Chrome .
2. At the top right, tap More Settings Google services.
3. Tap Touch to Search.
4. Turn Touch to Search on or off.

Tip: To improve your search results, you can also turn on Include surrounding text in Google searches.

Search with Google Lens in Chrome

You can use Google Lens in Chrome to search anything you find, whether it’s something you come across on a website or a photo you take. Easily do things like identify plants or animals, find similar products, or translate text. Learn how to search with Google Lens in Chrome.

Search with AI Mode

You can enter detailed queries, switch to AI Mode for advanced search experiences, and access various AI tools directly from the address bar.

Important: Some tools aren't yet available to all users. This feature is gradually coming to users outside the US, so it might not be available to you yet.

1. On your Android device, open Chrome .
2. To access AI Mode, tap the address bar AI Mode.
3. Enter your question.
   • On the left of the address bar, you can also use the menu to add multiple items, like recent tabs, images, files, or tools to support your question.
     • You can select:
       • Add current tab: You can select this option if you want to ask about your current active tab.
       • Tabs: You can select this option to ask about multiple open tabs.
       • Camera: You can use your camera to add a real-time image to your question.
       • Gallery: You can choose images from your gallery to add context to your question.
       • Files: You can insert PDF files from your device to get answers.
       • Create image: You can generate an image from the address bar.
4. To select from history, select View your AI Mode history.
