Windows

To install Chrome for your user account:

  1. Download the installer file.
  2. If prompted, click Run or Save.
  3. If you chose Save, double-click the installer file to start the installation process. We'll automatically import your homepage settings and browser history for you.
  4. Start Chrome:
    • Windows 7/Vista: A Chrome window opens once everything is set up.
    • Windows 8: A welcome dialog appears, click Next to select your default browser. If you choose Google Chrome, it'll launch as a Windows 8 app from the Start Screen.

System requirements

To use Google Chrome, your computer needs:

  • Windows XP Service Pack 2+, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10

  • An Intel Pentium 4 processor or later that's SSE2 capable
  • 350MB of free disk space
  • 512MB of RAM

 

Mac
  1. Download the installer file.
  2. Open the file called "Google Chrome.dmg." 
  3. In the window that opens, find the Chrome icon Chrome logo. Drag it to the Application folder. We'll automatically import your homepage settings and browser history for you.
    Note: If you don't have administrative rights, drag the icon to a location on your computer where you do have rights, such as your desktop. 
  4. Find the dock, then drag the Google Chrome disk image to the Eject icon .

System requirements

To use Google Chrome, your computer needs:

  • Mac OS X 10.6 or later

  • An Intel processor that's 64-bit
  • 350MB of free disk space
  • 512MB of RAM

 

Linux

Use the same software that installs programs on your computer to install Chrome. Make sure you have administrative access first.

  1. Download the installer file.
  2. Click OK to open the package.
  3. Click Install Package.
  4. A Chrome window opens once everything is set up. Google Chrome will add its program information to your software manager so that it can be kept up-to-date.

System requirements

Note: Any 32-bit Linux, as well as Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise) and Debian 7 (Wheezy), will no longer be supported starting in early March, 2016.

To use Google Chrome, your computer needs:

  • Ubuntu 12.04+, Debian 7+, openSUSE 13.1+, or Fedora Linux 21
  • An Intel Pentium 4 processor or later
  • 350MB of free disk space
  • 512MB of RAM

 

Android phone or tablet

Chrome for Android is available on phones and tablets running Android 4.1+ (Jelly Bean). If you're on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), Chrome version 42 and lower will work, but you won’t get any updates to Chrome.

  1. On the Play Store, go to Chrome for Android.
  2. Touch Install.
  3. Touch Accept & Download.
  4. To start browsing, go to the Home or All Apps page and touch the Chrome icon Chrome logo.
iPhone and iPad

First, check your system requirements. Chrome for iOS is available on iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch with iOS 9 or later in all languages that the Apple App Store supports.

  1. Go to the Chrome Apple App Store page on your device.
  2. Touch Free.
  3. Touch Install app.
  4. Enter your Apple ID Password and touch OK.
  5. Open Chrome.
  6. Once the installation is complete, touch the Chrome icon Chrome logo on your home screen to open the app.
