Uninstall Google Chrome

You can remove Chrome and your profile information by following the steps below. 

Uninstalling and re-installing Chrome can also fix problems with Flash, plug-ins, your search engine, pop-ups, or Chrome updates. 

Windows computers

Uninstall Chrome in Windows XP

  1. Close all Chrome windows and tabs.
  2. Go to the& Start menu > Control Panel.
  3. Click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. Double-click Google Chrome.
  5. Click Remove.
  6. Click Uninstall.
  7. If you want to delete your user profile information, like your browser preferences, bookmarks, and history, check "Also delete your browsing data." 

Uninstall Chrome in Windows Vista/ Windows 7/ Windows 8

  1. Close all Chrome windows and tabs.
  2. Go to the Start menu > Control Panel. (Windows 8 users: Learn how to get to the Control Panel)
  3. Click Programs and Features.
  4. Double-click Google Chrome.
  5. Click Uninstall
  6. If you want to delete your profile information, like your browser preferences, bookmarks, and history, check "Also delete your browsing data."
Mac computers
  1. Go to the folder containing the Google Chrome application on your computer. It might be in your Applications folder. 
  2. Drag Google Chrome into the Trash.

Remove your user profile information

If you want to delete your Chrome user profile information, like your browser preferences, bookmarks, and history from your computer, follow these steps:

  1. In the Mac menu bar at the top of the screen, click Go.
  2. Select Go to Folder.
  3. Type ~/Library/Google.
  4. Click Go.
  5. Drag the folder GoogleSoftwareUpdate into the Trash.
Linux computers
  1. Go to Applications > Debian > Applications > System > Package Management > Synaptic Package Manager.
  2. Search for "Google Chrome" in the list of packages.
  3. Check "Google Chrome package."
  4. Pick an uninstall option:
    • To completely uninstall, including your preferences, select "Mark for Complete Removal."
    • To uninstall while saving your preferences, select "Mark for Removal."
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Select Google Chrome from the "To be completely removed" menu.
  7. Click Apply.
iPhone and iPad
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, touch & hold the Chrome app Chrome app.
  2. Tap the X.
  3. To remove Chrome and all of its data from your device, tap Delete.
