Turn notifications on or off

You can set up Chrome to get notifications, like meeting reminders, from websites, apps, and extensions.

How notifications work

By default, Chrome alerts you whenever a website, app, or extension wants to send you notifications. You can change this setting at any time.

If you’re browsing in Incognito mode, you won’t get notifications.

Allow or block notifications from all sites

  1. On your Android device, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. Tap More More and then Settings.
  3. Tap Site Settings and then Notifications.
  4. Use the blue slider at the top of the screen to turn this feature to Ask first or Blocked.
    • Ask first: You’ll receive an alert from Chrome whenever a site wants to show you notifications. This is the default setting.
    • Blocked: You won’t see any notifications from websites.

Allow or block notifications from some sites

  1. On your Android device, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. Go to the website you don’t want to receive notifications from.
  3. To the left of the web address, tap Lock Lock.
  4. Next to "Notifications," tap the Down arrow Down Arrow. Choose Allow or Block.
    • If you don’t see the setting here, this website can’t send you notifications.
