You can open multiple tabs in Chrome. You can also check and switch between all your tabs. When you open a new tab, Chrome opens a personalised New tab page.
Some of the ways that you can customise your New tab page content are with:

Open a new or inactive tab
Open a new tab- On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome .
- Tap More New tab .
Open an inactive tab
If you have tabs that haven't been used in a while, they'll move to the inactive tabs section.
To manage your inactive tabs:
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- Tap Switch tabs Inactive tabs.
- The inactive tabs section is only available if you have inactive tabs to view.
- Select the tab that you want to open.
Tips:
- Inactive tabs are sorted from newest to oldest.
- Once a tab becomes active again, the active tab count will be updated.
- You can't reorder tabs in the inactive tabs section.
- Inactive tabs are located at the top of the Tab Switcher.
Close a tab
Close tabs on iPhoneClose a tab
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- At the bottom, tap Switch tabs .
- At the top right of the tab that you want to close, tap Close .
Close all tabs
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- At the bottom, tap Switch tabs .
- At the bottom left, tap Close all.
- On your iPad, open Chrome .
- On any tab that you want to close, at the upper-right corner, tap Close .

- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- Tap Switch tabs Inactive tabs.
- At the bottom of your screen, tap Close all inactive Close all.
- To reopen the tabs that you've closed, at the bottom left, tap Undo.
When you unpin a tab, it returns as a selectable tab in the Tab Switcher. If you want to remove the tab from the Tab Switcher, you can close the tab.
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- Tap Switch tabs .
- At the bottom of the screen, find the currently pinned tabs.
- To select the tab you want to close, press and hold on the tab.
- Select Close tab .
Manage your tabs
Hide or unhide inactive tabs
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- Tap More Settings .
- Tap Tabs Hide inactive tabs.
- Select the time period for when you want to hide inactive tabs.
- To turn off this feature, select Don't hide.
You can pin your favourite sites for easy access later. To pin sites that you browse on Chrome:
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- Tap Switch tabs .
- To select the tab that you want to pin, press and hold on the tab.
- Select Pin Tab .
- When you open the Tab Switcher, find your pinned tab at the bottom of the screen.
Drag to pin a tab
You can drag to pin tabs from selectable tabs in the Tab Switcher.
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- Tap Switch tabs .
- Press and hold to select the tab you want to drag.
- Drag the tab towards the bottom of the screen.
- Drop the tab:
- Next to other pinned tabs in the blue field.
- On top of the text, 'Drag to Pin Tab'.
When you unpin a tab, it won’t appear among your pinned tabs in the Tab Switcher.
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- Tap Switch tabs .
- At the bottom of the screen, find the pinned tabs.
- Press and hold to select the tab you want to unpin.
- Select Unpin tab .
Tip: Your unpinned tabs appear in the group of selectable tabs in the Tab Switcher.
Drag to unpin tabs
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- Tap Switch tabs .
- Press and hold to select the tab you want to drag.
- Drag the tab towards the top of the screen.
- Drop the tab next to an existing tab.
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- At the bottom, tap Switch tabs .
- Tap the tab that you want to switch to.
- On your iPad, open Chrome .
- Tap the tab that you want to switch to.
You can also:
- Swipe left or right at the top to switch tabs.
- Select the Tab Switcher to find all tabs and switch between them.
Reorder tabs
- On your iPad, open Chrome .
- Touch and hold the tab that you want to move.
- Drag the tab to a different position.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome .
- At the bottom, tap Switch tabs .
- At the top left, tap Search .
- To find the tab that you want, enter related keywords.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome .
- At the bottom of the screen, tap Switch tabs .
- To find the menu, press and hold the tab that you want to use.
- In the menu, tap your preferred option.
- Add to bookmarks .
- Add to reading lists .
- Share tab .
- Close tab .
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- Tap Switch tabs .
- To create a tab group:
- Touch and hold a tab.
- Tap Add tab to new group.
- Enter a name for your tab group.
- You can also assign a colour for a group.
- Tap Create group.
- To add a tab to an existing group:
- Touch and hold a tab.
- Tap Add tab to group.
- Select the group that you want to add your tab to.
- To add multiple tabs in a group:
- At the bottom, tap Edit Select tabs.
- Select the tabs that you want to add in a group.
- At the bottom, tap Add to… Add tabs to new group or Add tabs to group.
- At the top right, tap Done.
- To rename a tab group:
- Touch and hold the tab group.
- Tap Rename group.
- Edit the group name.
- Tap Done.
- To remove tabs from group:
- Tap the tab group.
- Touch and hold the tab that you want to remove.
- Tap Move to tab group Remove from group.
- To delete a group:
- Touch and hold the tab group.
- Tap Delete group.
- To create a tab group:
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- Tap Switch tabs .
- Open a tab group that you want to ungroup.
- Touch and hold any tab.
- Select Ungroup.
- On your iPad, open Chrome .
- At the bottom, tap Switch tabs .
- Open another app in split view.
- To drag a tab’s URL to another app: Touch and hold a tab, then drag it to another app. When you let go, the URL is pasted into the other app.
- To open a URL from another app in Chrome: Touch and hold the URL in the other app, then drag it to the Chrome window. When you let go, a new tab is created in Chrome.
- On your iPhone, open Chrome .
- Tap More Reload .
- On your iPad, open Chrome .
- At the top left, tap Reload .
Use windows in Chrome on iPad
Open new windows- On your iPad, open Chrome .
- Select More New window .
- To open a link in a new window: Touch and hold the link.
- To move windows around: Slide the divider between windows to the left or right.
- On your iPad, touch and hold Chrome .
- Select Show all windows.
- To close each window, touch the window and swipe up.
