Use tabs & suggestions
You can open as many tabs as you want in Chrome. You can also view all your tabs and switch among them.
Open a new tab
- On your Android phone, open the Chrome app
.
- To the right of the address bar, tap More
.
- Tap New tab.
Android tablet
- On your Android tablet, open the Chrome app
.
- At the top, next to your open tabs, tap New tab
.
See websites you visit often
When you swipe up on the address bar or open a new tab, you'll see images of the websites you visit often. If you haven’t used Chrome before, you'll see some popular sites.
- To visit a site, tap the image.
- To remove a site, touch and hold an image. Tap Remove.
See and edit suggested articles
- To see suggested content, like recent bookmarks and interesting articles, swipe up on the address bar or open a new tab. If you're signed in to Chrome, suggestions are based on your Web & App activity.
- To remove an item, swipe left or right.
- To save items to read offline, touch and hold the article. Then, tap Download link. Learn more about reading pages offline.
Close tabs
- On your Android phone, open the Chrome app
.
- To the right of the address bar, tap Switch tabs
. You'll see your open Chrome tabs.
- At the top right of the tab you want to close, tap Close
. You can also swipe to close the tab.
Close all tabs
- On your Android phone, open the Chrome app
.
- To the right of the address bar, tap Switch tabs
. You'll see your open Chrome tabs.
- Tap More
Close all tabs.
Android tablet
- On your Android tablet, open the Chrome app
.
- On any tab you want to close, tap Close
.
Close all tabs
- On your Android tablet, open the Chrome app
.
- On any tab, touch and hold Close
.
- Tap Close all tabs.
View tabs
- On your Android phone, open the Chrome app
.
- To the right of the address bar, tap Switch tabs
. You'll see your open Chrome tabs.
- Tap the tab you’d like to see.
Android tablet
- On your Android tablet, open the Chrome app
.
- At the top, tap the tab you’d like to see.
See 2 tabs at the same time
If your device has Android N and up, you can see two tabs side-by-side.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app
.
- At the bottom, touch and hold Overview
. You'll see 2 screens.
- To the right of the Chrome address bar, tap More
.
- Tap Move to other window.
Switch to a new tab
- On your Android phone, open the Chrome app
.
- To the right of the address bar, tap Switch tabs
.
- Swipe up or down.
- Tap the tab you want to switch to.
Android tablet
- On your Android tablet, open the Chrome app
.
- Tap the tab you want to switch to.
Reorder tabs
- On your Android tablet, open the Chrome app
.
- Touch and hold the tab you want to move.
- Drag the tab to a different position.
Refresh tabs
- On your Android phone, open the Chrome app
.
- To the right of the address bar, tap More
.
- Tap Reload
.
Android tablet
- On your Android tablet, open the Chrome app
.
- At the top left, tap Reload
.
