Create your own theme for Chrome through Generative AI. You can choose a subject, style, mood, and color based on your preferences with the Create with AI feature under “Customize Chrome.”
Requirements
To use this feature, make sure that you:
- Are located in the US and at least 18 years old
- Are signed in to your Google Account
Create themes with AI
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the bottom right of a New Tab page, select Customize Chrome
.
- Select Change theme
Create with AI.
- Under “Create theme with AI”:
- Choose a subject: Choose from a list of popular subjects.
- Under “Add optional details”:
- Select a style: Select a style you prefer. The styles in the list have a thumbnail image to give you an insight on what they may look like.
- Select a mood: Choose a mood from the list.
- Select a color: Choose a color from the options provided. For more options, use Custom color
.
- Create your AI theme:
- Select Create.
- A set of themes are generated by AI based on your selections
- Select a theme to apply to the New Tab page.

Resolve Create theme with AI errors
”Something went wrong. Please try again later.”You may get this error if the server is busy. Try again after a few minutes.
You need an internet connection to use the Create with AI feature under “Customize Chrome.” You receive this error when no network connectivity is detected.
- Check your internet connection.
- Click Try again.

When you use Create themes with AI, your inputs such as your selected options, feedback, and theme usage are collected.
