Import or export passwords and passkeys with Google Password Manager

You can import passwords and passkeys from other apps to Google Password Manager on Chrome. You can also export your passwords and passkeys from Google Password Manager.

To find the list of accounts with saved passwords and passkeys on your device, you can:

• Go to the Password Manager.
• Find your passwords in the Google Password Manager.

Import passwords on your Android device with a .csv file

Step 1: Export your passwords from other apps as a .csv file

Tip: To make sure your passwords use the proper format, check if the first line of your exported passwords file includes these column names:

• “url”
• “username”
• “password”

If not, update your file to include "url", “username", and "password" as column names in the first line.

Step 2: Import passwords into Google Password Manager

1. On your Android device, open Chrome .
2. At the top right, select More Settings.
3. Tap Autofill and passwords Google Password Manager.
4. At the bottom right, select Settings Import passwords and passkeys.
   1. You will be prompted to authenticate your identity.
5. Tap “uploading a csv file” at the bottom of the screen.
6. Choose the .csv file you want to import.
7. Select Import.

Tips:

• You can import 3,000 passwords at a time. If you must import more, split them into multiple .csv files and import the files separately. You can store up to 10,000 passwords in your Google Account.
• Not all app and site names migrate in the correct field. If you can’t find an imported password in Google Password Manager, search for the app or site name in the search box.

Step 3: Delete your .csv password file on your device

Important: If you don’t delete your password file, anyone who uses the device can open the file and access your passwords.

To delete your password file, refer to your device’s documentation.

Import passwords or passkeys on your Android device from a password manager

You can safely import passwords and passkeys to Google Password Manager from other password manager apps.

Import passwords and passkeys on Android

Important: Make sure you trust the third-party password manager before you import your passwords and passkeys into it.

To import passwords and passkeys to Google Password Manager on your Android device:

1. On your Android device, open Google Password Manager .
2. Tap Settings Import passwords and passkeys.
   1. You will be prompted to verify your identity with screen lock.
3. Tap Next Choose the password manager you want to import from.
   1. You will be prompted to sign in to the other password manager. If you import passkeys, you may be prompted to enter your recovery key.
4. Approve the export from the other password manager.
5. Tap Done.

Tips:

• Duplicate passwords: If you import passwords that are already in Google Password Manager, they won't be added.
• Screen lock: You need a screen lock (like a PIN, pattern, or fingerprint) on your device to import passwords. If you don't have one, you'll be asked to set it up.
• Passkey unlock: If you want to import to a new device, you might need to use your old device's screen lock or your Google Password Manager PIN to use your passkeys.
• Error messages: If no passwords are found from the other password manager, or if the data is broken, the import might not work. Make sure the other app is set up correctly and the data is good.

Export passwords from Google Password Manager

You can download your passwords to a .csv file. You can also export your passwords and passkeys into another password management app.

Download your passwords

To download your passwords to a .csv file:

1. On your Android device, open Chrome .
2. At the top right, tap More Settings.
3. Tap Autofill and passwords Google Password Manager.
4. At the bottom, tap Settings Export passwords & passkeys Download file.

Important: Make sure you trust the third-party password manager before you export your passwords to it.

To export your passwords and passkeys to another password management app from Google Password Manager:

1. Open the third-party password manager you want to export your Google Password Manager passwords and passkeys to.
   1. You may be prompted to verify your identity with screen lock.
2. Select the option to import your passwords from another app.
3. Select the Google Accounts whose passwords and passkeys you want to import.
   1. You will be prompted to verify your identity with screen lock.
4. When Google Password Manager opens, select Export.

Tips:
