Add websites and progressive web apps to Chrome kiosks

Chrome version 81 and later

You can install websites and progressive web apps (PWAs) on managed Chrome devices in locked-down kiosk mode. You can also automatically launch PWAs on a kiosk.

Considerations

  • You should only add websites and PWAs that you fully trust. For them to work properly in kiosk mode, all web permissions are granted without requesting a user’s consent. For example, a user won’t be asked for permission to access a camera or microphone on a kiosk device. 

  • Make sure that URLs that you specify do not have redirects. Permission requests are automatically granted only from the original URL. Permission requests from a different URL are automatically rejected.

Step 1: Add a website or PWA to a Chrome kiosk

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Devicesand thenChrome.
  3. Click Apps & extensionsand thenKiosks.
  4. To apply the setting to everyone, leave the top organizational unit selected. Otherwise, select a child organizational unit.
  5. Click Add Add and then Add by URL Add by URL.
  6. Enter the URL and click Save.

Step 2: (Optional) Set an app to launch automatically

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Devicesand thenChrome.
  3. Click Apps & extensionsand thenKiosks.
  4. To apply the setting to everyone, leave the top organizational unit selected. Otherwise, select a child organizational unit.
  5. Next to Auto-launch app under Installation policy, click the list and choose the website or PWA that you want to automatically launch.
  6. At the top, click Save.
