View additional details of an app or extension

For administrators who manage Chrome browser or ChromeOS devices for a business or school.

As an admin, you can use your Google Admin console to see additional details of apps and extensions that are installed on users’ enrolled Chrome browsers and ChromeOS devices.

Before you begin

View the app or extension details

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. In the Admin console, go to Menu and then Devicesand thenChromeand thenReportsand thenApps & extensions usage.
  3. To show all apps and extensions, click All extensions. Otherwise, select an organizational unit.
  4. To view additional details of an app or extension installed on the Chrome browsers and ChromeOS devices that you manage, click its row.

View and set installation policies

Applies to Chrome extensions, Android apps, and progressive web apps

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. In the Admin console, go to Menu and then Devicesand thenChromeand thenReportsand thenApps & extensions usage.
  3. To show all apps and extensions, click All extensions. Otherwise, select an organizational unit.
  4. To view the installation policy for an app or extension, click its row.
  5. To set the installation policy for an app or extension that has not already been configured, click Set installation policy.
  6. To view and set additional configurations for an app or extension, under Installation policy click View and set additional configurations.
    The Apps & Extensions page for that Chrome Extension, Android app, or progressive web app is displayed. For details, see View and configure apps and extensions.

Note: Available installation policies depend on whether you're updating an app or extension for users and browsers, kiosks, or managed guest sessions.

Details

Applies to Chrome extensions, Android apps, and progressive web apps

You can view all of the publicly available information available about the app or extension.

Note: Not all of the following fields are available for all apps and extensions.

Chrome extensions
Field Description
ID The unique identifier for the extension.
Type

Specifies whether the app or extension is a:

  • Chrome app, extension or theme
  • Android app
  • Progressive web app

For Chrome extensions, they type is Chrome app, extension or theme.

Chrome Web Store listing Link to the Chrome Web Store listing, if available.
Listed since Date when the extension was first published.
Last updated Date of the last update by the developer.
Developer Display name, website, or contact information of the developer.
Privacy policy Link to the developer’s privacy policy.
Reviews The rating of extension and the number of reviews given by users.
Number of active users Number of users.
Is a theme Specifies whether the extension is a Chrome theme.
Developed by Google Specifies whether the extension is developed by Google.
Hosted in the Chrome Web Store Specifies whether the extension is hosted in the Chrome Web Store.
Android app
Field Description
ID The unique identifier for the app.
Type Specifies whether the app is a:
  • Chrome app, extension or theme
  • Android app
  • Progressive web app

For Android apps, they type is Android app.

Play store listing Link to the app’s Play store listing, if available.
Listed since Date the app was first published.
Last updated Date of the last update by the developer.
Developer Display name, website or contact information of the developer.
Privacy policy Link to the developer’s privacy policy.
Reviews The rating of the app and the number of reviews given by users.
Progressive web app
Field Description
ID The unique identifier for the app.
Type Specifies whether the app is a:
  • Chrome app, extension or theme
  • Android app
  • Progressive web app

For Progressive web apps, they type is Progressive web app.

Risk assessment

Applies to Chrome extensions that are publicly available in the Chrome Web Store

You can view third-party data about the app or extension’s risk score. Google makes no guarantee about the data provided by third-party companies. Google does not host, control, or modify risk assessment data.

Providers try to assess most versions of an extension, but there might be instances where a risk assessment score is not available. This is not a bug.

Review a risk score

You might review an extension's risk score, and decide to provide a risk reassessment. For example, you might rate an extension as more high risk than the current third-party provider's score indicates. To contribute your feedback, under Risk assessment, click the risk score hyperlink. This brings you to Spin.ai where you can suggest an improvement.

Requested permissions

Applies to Chrome extensions and Android apps only

You can view all the permissions that the app or extension has requested.

Chrome extension
Permission Description
Name The permission that the app or extension requests.
Access to user data If the permission has the ability to access user data.
Android app

Refer to the Android developers permission documentation for more information on any specific permissions. For details, see Manifest.permission.

Requested website access

Applies to Chrome extensions only.

You can view all the hosts permissions of the extension. These are represented using match patterns for either specific websites or a broad range of websites. For details, see Match patterns.

Installs

Applies to Chrome extensions, Android apps, and progressive web apps

You can view the installation details of the app or extension for enrolled Chrome browsers and ChromeOS devices that you manage. This information can be viewed in different ways depending on your preference. For details, see How to use Chrome browser Cloud Management's Takeout API Service Script.

Field Description
Browsers List of machine names and corresponding users that have the app or extension installed.
Users List of each user that has the app or extension installed.
Versions List of the app or extension versions and corresponding number of installs.

Alerts

You might notice alerts when trying to view information for an app or extension. This can be common for apps and extensions that are not hosted on Google platforms as we might not have the information about them.
