Use the Salesforce bot

Use the Salesforce bot in Google Chat to search for accounts, contacts, leads, and opportunities in Salesforce.

Before you begin

  • You need permission from your G Suite administrator to install bots.
  • You need to add the bot to Chat.
    Learn how to Find bots and add them to Chat.
  • You need a Salesforce account.

Set up the Salesforce bot in Chat

  1. Open Chat.
  2. Open a direct message with the bot or go to a room with the bot.
  3. Enter any message, such as "help:"
    • In a direct message, enter help.
    • In a room, enter @Salesforce help.
  4. Click Configure.
  5. Sign in to your Salesforce account.
  6. At the "Allow Access" window, click Allowand thenclose your browser.

Search using the Salesforce bot

  1. Open Chat.
  2. Open a direct message with the bot or go to a room with the bot.
  3. Enter show query, where query is any keyword, such as "smith." In rooms, enter @Salesforce show query.
    The bot returns results for accounts, contacts, leads, and opportunities.
  4. Click a resultand thenclick Open In Salesforce.
  5. To sign out of Salesforce:
    • In a direct message, enter logout
    • In a room, enter @Salesforce logout.

Using the bot in rooms

To use the bot in rooms, you need to explicitly @mention the bot in each message to the bot (including in replies to messages from the bot). The @mention confirms you're sending the message to the bot and not to others in the room.
