Important: If you use Google Chat on a personal account, you may not be able to interact with bots. Learn the differences between Google Chat account types.
To add people and bots to a space or group conversation in Google Chat, add them to the member list. You can also add them to a space or group conversation with an @mention.
Tips:
- As people move from classic Hangouts to Google Chat, previous group conversations won’t let members leave or add and remove people.
- To give members the option to leave a space or conversation, or add and remove members, create a new group conversation or space in Google Chat.
- You can tell that a conversation or space is new if you click More options
and have the option to ”Leave.”
- Open the Chat app

- Open a space or group conversation.
- At the top left, tap the space name or conversation participants
Add people & bots.
- Enter a name, group, or email address, or select from the suggestions.
- At the top right, tap Done

- Open a space or group conversation.
- At the top left, tap the space name or the conversation participants.
- Under “Members,” the names of space members or conversation participants appear.
- Optional: To add more members to the space or group conversation, tap Add people & bots.
You can remove members from a space or group conversation. If you remove someone, they can’t participate in the space or group conversation or view message history.
If the person was added to a space as part of a group in Google Groups, you need to first remove them from the Google Group, then remove them from the space. Or, you can remove the entire Google Group from the space.

- Under “Members,” next to the person's name, tap More options
