Create & organize sections in Google Chat

To easily track your conversations, you can organize your direct messages and spaces into sections in Google Chat.

Change section display preferences

In sections, you can customize your display to:

• Show all messages or unread messages only.
• Adjust the number of spaces you can find in each section.

Show all messages or unread messages only

In sections, for each custom section, you can turn sections on or off to Show all messages or Show unread messages .

Adjust custom section heights

1. To adjust the section height, touch and hold the section name.
2. Under "Section height," tap one of the following:
   • Show all
   • Show 5 more
   • Show 5 less
   • Show active conversations only

Sort alphabetically or by most recent

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chat app .
2. Touch and hold a section header.
3. In the menu that opens, under "Sort this section," tap Recent or Alphabetically.
