Sign out of Google Chat

You can sign out of, remove or switch between different Google Chat accounts from any device.

Remove your Google Account from your device

Important: 

• To sign out of the Google Chat app, you must remove your account from your phone or tablet. 
• When you remove an account, it’s deleted from all apps on your device. When your account is removed, you won’t be signed in to Google products, such as Maps or YouTube.

1. Open the Chat app or Gmail app .
2. At the top right, tap your profile picture.
3. Tap Manage accounts on this device.
4. Choose an option:
   • To disable an account on Google Chat temporarily, next to the account, tap Toggle . 
   • To remove an account from your device completely, tap Remove from this device  Remove.

Tip: If you remove the account from your phone or tablet, you can still use Google Chat on a computer.

 

Switch accounts and stay signed in

Important: If you add multiple accounts to the Chat app, you can switch between them. Messages on the Chat app stay separate for each account.

1. Open the Chat app or Gmail app .
2. At the top right, tap your profile picture.
3. Tap the account that you want to use with Google Chat.
