Data Manager

Simplify how you import offline conversion data into Campaign Manager 360. Data Manager integration connects directly to external data sources, like BigQuery, through a guided user interface. This automates offline conversion imports, eliminating custom API pipelines or manual file uploads.

Understand Data Manager integration

The Data Manager integration in Campaign Manager 360 simplifies offline-conversion data imports.

It allows you to connect directly to external data sources. These include BigQuery. It uses a guided user interface for this process. Learn more about Supported data sources.

Once you set it up, your offline data imports as conversion events. You can use it for reporting and bid optimization.

This applies to all linked Google Marketing Platform accounts. Examples include Search Ads 360 and Display & Video 360.

Explore the benefits of Data Manager integration

  • Simplified data uploads: Use a visual interface to connect your data sources, which eliminates the need for complex technical setups.
  • Enhanced bidding optimization: Use your imported offline-conversion data to inform and improve bidding strategies in Search Ads 360 and Display & Video 360.

Learn how Data Manager integration works

The process involves creating a connection to your data source. You then associate that data with a specific Floodlight conversion.

Create a connection and filter

  1. Navigate to a new tab in your Floodlight configuration. This tab is called Data Manager.
  2. From this page, create a new connection to an external data source. The system guides you through an interface to link your account.
  3. Within the connection, set up a filter. This defines the specific data to import. It also maps your data source fields to the required Floodlight fields.

Associate a filter with a Floodlight conversion

  1. Navigate to the specific Floodlight conversion. This is where you want to import the offline data.
  2. In the conversion’s settings, locate the Import Data section.
  3. In this section, associate the filter you created previously. A Floodlight conversion can be associated with one filter.

Automate data import

Once you associate a filter with a Floodlight conversion, data imports automatically. This follows the schedule you define during the filter setup.

Remove a filter from a Floodlight conversion

  1. Go to the specific Floodlight conversion's settings.
  2. In the Import Data section, you can disassociate or remove the currently linked filter.

Prepare for integration

Permissions: To set up and manage connections in Data Manager, your user profile needs the Insert offline conversions permission.

Required data fields: Your offline data source must include the following information for each conversion:

  • A timestamp for the conversion.
  • An ordinal value (such as an Order ID) to help deduplicate conversions.
  • At least one of the following identifiers: gclid, dclid, matchId, mobileDeviceId, or impression_id.

Prevent duplicate conversions

Note: You should not set up a Floodlight tag for any conversion that is configured to receive offline data. This feature isn’t supported yet, but is planned for a future release.

If a Floodlight conversion is already receiving offline data through the Campaign Manager 360 API, don’t use the Data Manager integration for that same conversion. Importing data from both sources, Campaign Manager 360 API and Data Manager, simultaneously can lead to a loss of measurement signals, as only the latest conversion is counted.

To prevent this, the user interface displays a warning. This warning appears if you connect an offline data source to a Floodlight conversion. It applies if that conversion is already receiving data from another source. The warning will state:

If the same event is recorded by multiple sources (like a tag and a connected product), the record with the earliest event date will be kept. To update past events, use the Campaign Manager API.
