External ID

An external ID is any ID that you might use outside Campaign Manager 360 to identify items in internal reports (this ID is not generated by Campaign Manager 360).

Naming rules for external IDs:

• Maximum length: 50 characters
• Encoding: UTF-8
• Allowed characters:
  • numbers from 0–9
  • letters from a–z, A–Z
  • dashes ("-")
  • underscores ("_")
• Never use:
  • commas (",")
  • semicolons (";")
  • pipes ("|")

• You can apply the same external ID to any combination of campaigns or placements, or use a unique ID for every campaign and every placement.

• To find all campaigns and placements associated with an external ID, enter it into the Campaign Manager 360 search box.

• Not all accounts are enabled to use external IDs. If you do not see the external ID field in this section, talk to your account manager about enabling this feature.

Content category / Placement strategy

Content categories and placement strategies are two ways of grouping placements in reports.

• Content categories typically organize placements according to the contents of their associated webpages. For example, you might create content categories such as Sports, Children, News, and Music.

• Strategies are typically the approaches that marketing uses for each placement. For example, you might create the strategies 10% Discount, Free Shipping, and Free Trial Membership.

While these are typical uses of these fields, Campaign Manager 360 gives you the flexibility to use them any way you like.

Content category and Strategy lists include all content categories and strategies that have been created in your account. To add new ones, enter them into the search box and press ENTER. You can also add, edit, and delete content categories and strategies at the account level.
