How to take a photo on Camera from Google

Important: The Camera from Google app is only available on Android devices.

Open your camera

To open the camera, tap Camera from Google . Learn where to find your apps.

Take a photo

  1. Open Camera from Google .
  2. Point your camera and wait for it to autofocus.
  3. Select an option:
    • Tap Capture .
    • Press the volume up or down. 

Use zoom

  1. Choose an option:
    • On your screen, pinch open or close.
    • Double-tap the screen.
    • Use the slider at the bottom. 
  2. Tap Capture .
    Tip: To capture the most details when you take a photo from far away, zoom into your subject first.

Use autofocus

  1. Point your camera at your subject.
  2. Wait for the camera to autofocus.
    Tip: If you use the accessibility feature, double-tap your screen to autofocus.
  3. To lock focus and exposure, tap Lock .
  4. Tap Capture .

Use front or back camera

  1. Tap Switch .
  2. Tap Capture .

Focus & blur the background (portrait-style photo)

  1. Tap Portrait.
  2. Point the camera at your subject.
  3. Tap Capture .
