How do I get Google Calendar to add locations from Maps instead of Contacts when creating an event? 1 Recommended Answer 26 Replies 48 Upvotes

I noticed recently that when I create a new event on my Android calendar app and start typing in a location, the calendar app will auto-fill from my list of Contacts instead of from Google Maps.

I tested this in the Calendar app on my iPad as well as from the Chrome browser on my PC and in both instances when I would start typing in a location it would auto-fill from Google Maps.

How do I -- or can I -- toggle the Calendar app on my Android phone to search from Google Maps instead of Contacts when I start typing a location for a new event that I'm creating?

Many thanks!

It appears that it was a temporary issue. Now the location search function on Android will auto-fill from both Contacts and Maps. This is good!

My Issue is the opposite. I think there should be a third case where in I can save the location as I have typed (eg: Grandma's Farm House) because all locations are not listed on Maps either.

it's not auto-filling for me. Just stopped happening recently. I LOVE that function. Please let me know if I somehow turned it off??

Found a solution that worked for me: Go to Settings, Apps, Calendar, Storage and Clear Cache.
