How can I invite a "contact label" to a calendar event? 1 Recommended Answer 172 Replies 198 Upvotes

In contacts.google.com it is possible to create "labels" which seem to have replaced the old "contact list."  This is not a Google Group, it's just a personal list of people.  If you have created several lists for committees or other groups of people, it might be useful to invite them all to a calendar event.  It seems counterintuitive that you can address an email to "Tech Team" and it will auto populate that To line with the members from the contact label list, but the same behavior doesn't work in a calendar invite.

Oh jeez.  You're totally right.  It wasn't doing the auto-fill behavior that I would expect, so I didn't even try hitting return after typing it.  That works.  Thank you!!

I'm having this problem too.  Used to be able to add guests to a calendar event by typing in the "label" name in the field.  Now not populating...  Any reason for the change?

Same thing here.  What's odd it that Contact Labels are still available to others in my office.  We are all on the same version.

I'm having this same issue. Used to be able to type a "label" name into the guest field and it would invite everyone in that group. Now my only option is to add individual email addresses.

Having the same issue and NOT happy. Have over 50 distros (now Labels) that I use for emails and conference calls. I can email them with the label, but I can't add them to the calendar invite.

WHY IN THE WORLD would google stop this feature from working... this makes NO SENSE GOOGLE!!!!!

For the love of god bring back this feature... right now there is no way I can add a group of invitees from my gmail labels to a calendar invite. I can't even get it to let me PICK someone from my damn contact list? Why in the hell would this change????

Exact same issue.  It turns pink and does not recognize the label.  This is a major inconvenience as I run a lot of conference calls and meetings that involve large groups of people.  Having to enter theme individually is time consuming and tedious.  What were you thinking?

The same here, very annoying that an essential feature is missing.  Hopefully this is only temporary

DEAR GOOGLE: PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE BACK IN! The recommended answer above does not work. The ability to add a Contact Label to a calendar invite seems to have been discontinued.  It worked perfectly in the past and Google doesn't seem to have provided a feasible alternative to add a group list to the calendar invite so now we have to type everyone's individual emails into the invite which is not at all convenient.

YES! I need to send several meeting invites to the same group of people. I can easily send an email to the group using the named label in contacts but just found out you can't send a calendar invite to that same group!  This is so bad...

Under the Invite is not present the name of the contact label "agenda".

My quick way around this is to export the label as a CSV, copy the 'email addresses' column, copy and paste into the 'invite people' box and hit enter. Its clunky, but it works.
