Public calendar is off by 1 hour for any meetings created after daylight savings. Solutions?
0
I have a shared public calendar on a google sites page.  The calendar has repeated events that go from October 2019 to February 2019.  When I am logged into any google account all the times are correct.  If I am not logged into google all the times go up by one hour after November 3rd (Daylight savings time change).  This occurs on iOS devices and on all browsers that are not logged into google.

Question 1:
Is there a fix for this currently so I can display future events accurately after November 3rd?

Question 2:
If not, can I reenter the dates and times after Nov 3rd so they reflect the time accurately?

Question 3:
If I leave it as it is will the time adjust on its own on Nov 3rd?

If the answer is no to all of these then I may need to stop using the google calendar on my site and find an alternative method to display the meeting times.

Thanks in advance

Public calendar issue with Daylight Savings Time: This issue is exposed again now in the UK as we approach 27 October when clocks go back an hour. All calendar entries after clocks change have 1 hour added to the time when viewed by anyone who is not signed in to Google i.e. a 09:00 meeting is shown as 10:00.

So this doesn't affect Google users who are signed in, but does affect people who are not signed in e.g. when viewing the pubic calendar embedded in a public website.

As the time displays correctly when creating an event we are misled into thinking it's OK!

It seems Google is not going to show the correct time when not signed in until after the clocks have actually changed. Here's what the Calendar says about Daylight savings time:

"Google Calendar uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) to help avoid issues with daylight savings time.
When events are created, they're converted into UTC, but you'll always see them in your local time.
If an area switches their time zone, events created before we knew about the change might be in the wrong time zone."

[Time zone in Google Calendar is set to GMT+01:00 United Kingdom Time; Windows is (UTC+00:00) Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London]

It's not a new issue - happens every time clocks change, see https://support.google.com/calendar/thread/813443?hl=en

I have the same issue with dates after March 8th. This is so difficult.

I live in Arizona, which does not change to DST. Since March 8, when DST went into effect elsewhere, may calendar has appointments an hour earlier. When I try to edit it shows the correct time in editing view. Would appreciate it if they could fix this glitch. Makes the calendar unreliable.

Hi Mark, this thread concerns public calendars embedded in websites - is that the case for you too?

If so, you should check the 'ctz' parameter in the embed code is set correctly. Google Sites Calendar Widget has a problem with this, but if you use the HTML provided by the Customize Tool in Settings > Integrate it will display correctly for everyone whether they are logged in to Google or not.

I, too live in Arizona and am having the exact same issue as Mark. I am manually putting in my appointments into the calendar and they show an hour earlier. When I go to edit, they show the correct time, but when saved, they again show an hour earlier.
I don't believe this issue has anything to do with other web pages.
Is there a fix to this? Or do I just keep showing up an hour early for everything?

Hi Scott,

Are you seeing the wrong time on Chrome, the Google Calendar App, or both? As far as I can tell there are 4 timezone settings which can affect at which time you see events: your device/system timezone, the General Google Calendar timezone setting, the specific calendar timezone, and the event's timezone. Have you double-checked that none of them are set to a timezone which has DST enabled?

My problem was that all my schedules were set to Arizona time which doesn't observe daylight savings time. I simply had to change the events to Denver.
