I'm having trouble syncing my Google Calendar on my new Huawei P30 pro while having no issues with my previous phone.

1. In the Calendar App I do not see my google accounts it only says 'Phone' as an added account.
2. Reminders sync perfectly but appointments do not. 
3. When I refresh the Calendar app it says 'Sync error'
4. When I go to settings > accounts > Google; I can see the sync icon for both Gmail and Calendar has an exclamation mark inside them. The last synced date is also off from all other items. When I move on to manually sync using the 'Sync Now' button I get a message stating: 'Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly'. This has been going on for the 2 months I have this phone so this is clearly incorrect

What I've tried:
1. Clearing data/Cache of Google Calendar and the Google Calendar Sync system process
2. Removing Google accounts from device and adding them again'
3. Removed permissions from the Huawei Calendar app
4. Changed battery saving settings.
5. Tried using third party calendar apps as well but they also don't work
6. Uninstalling/Reinstalling the Google Calendar App

Basically everything I could think of short of full factory reset.

Looks like your issue is common on Huawei P30 Pro. I found another post on Google Support asking the same question and a user replied with a possible solution:

Are you using the official GCal app for Android?
Please press the 3-dots button on the top-right, and click Refresh. Afterwards check if you can see your events using the computer.

Thanks for the reply but this is one of the first things I tried. Refreshing does nothing but give an error. Strangely the reminders I make immediately show up in the desktop calendar and vice versa but appointments do not.

I have the exact same problem. Same error on google play music sync and occasionally on gmail.

I just went almost crazy with the same problem on an old Honor 5X running Android 5. Did everything (clear cache, wipe dalvik cache, remove and re-add Google account) and nothing helped.

Then i read that one should update the official Google Calendar app (even if you are using another calendar app), because that one also installs an updated data adapter for syncing.
Well, almost. The Google Calendar app was up to date, but the info about the data adapter led mi in the right direction. I uninstalled the current Google Calendar app (in the hope of also uninstalling a possibly updated data adapter), and instantly the sync worked.
This is perfectly fine for us, as we use another calendar app (Business Calendar 2 - excellent btw.) on that phone.

Conclusion: One of the last Google calendar app updates seems to have broken syncing on old Android devices. I guess you can downgrade it and disable auto-updates if you want to use it.
