Hi, I can't get Google calendar invites/events to show on my apple calendar on my iphone 7+.  They show on my computer but not the phone. Have gone to settings - Passwords and Accounts - Add Account - Gooogle - signed in to google account - Screen goes briefly to page with Gmail at top and then a list including mail contacts calendars which are all 'green but the screen overall is grey/muted; i wouldn't be able to change any options on it if I wanted to, and then that screen disappears very quickly back to the add account screen.  It seems to cut me off there.
I have received emails from Google saying iOS was granted access to my Google Account but it doesn't seem to have actually happened.
I've turned it on and off countless times too.
I'd appreciate any suggestions, thank you, Lisa

I am having this exact same issue with my iphone X, and I can't find a solution ANYWHERE!  Does anyone know an answer to this question.  I've been trying for 3 days, and am about to just delete the google calendar and go back to using my apple calendar (which is a shame, because I need to share a google calendar with family--but at this point, it's simply not working).  Thanks!

I'm having the same issue and Apple hasn't been able to help me resolve it.  We tried everything including a hard reset of the phone and reboot from back up and that didn't fix it.  I can get it to work on my Mac mini and my macbook pro but not my iPhone XR or my super old iPad mini.

My issue happens when I go to try and add the Google account, I sign in, it takes my password, sends out a 2 stage authentication to my phone, I confirm, looks like its going to start to verify the account and then simply goes back to the Add Account screen and never adds the account.  Happens the same way on both of the devices.

Google I'm assuming Stephanie and I are not the only two people with this issue, any help would be great as my work calendar happens on the google account and personal life is managed on my mac calendar and I feel like I'm going to miss important meetings when I'm not at my desk or on my laptop.

Thanks

You're not the only one.

My google calendar disappeared from my iphone calendar, so in an attempt to jumpstart it, I deleted my google calendar and tried to sign back in. I enter my google email and password, it starts to synch and then unceremoniously dumps me back out to the "add new account" screen.

I've signed into Google from my desktop, and under "security" it shows I have alerts. I go in security and confirm "this was me" for the attempted sign ons. Try again to add my G account to iPhone. Same result.

I had this exact problem years ago and had to find a software workaround. But this is just infuriating. I have a feeling this has to do with 2step verification (I do not get a verification text from google on my attempted sign ins).

So... please, everyone saying this isn't a thing because not enough people are complaining, stop. It is a thing. And it happened in the last week for some of us. Just because it wasn't for all of us doesn't make those of us who have this problem disappear.

Well, slight development.

I went through, reenabled my two-step verification. I started getting the texts. Didn't fix problem, tho.

Then added the new Google prompt feature that allows you to authorize sign-ins through the Google iphone app. Tried to use that method.

... and, I got the "something's gone wrong" notification, which is a known bug of the most recent iPhone software update.

In both cases, Google shows my phone as being signed in; not through the app but through the settings. Which means Google thinks my phone is connected but Apple won't accept it. And so far, even with the most recent software update (12.4.1) it's still not allowing me to add my google account to my phone.

Sooooo... it's not a Google bug. It's an Apple bug.

Curiously: I have a different google account (one that is an @gmail.com account; the other one--which I can't add to my iphone--is NOT an @gmail address). The account that's @gmail.com added beautifully.

I'm wondering: Could this be happening to people with Google accounts that aren't @gmail user names?
