My Google Calendar app is misbehaving- anyone else having issues?
1
This is my go to app- and I have noticed over the last week it is not working properly. For example, when you drop down your notification drawer and tap a reminder I want to edit or assign a different time, it says that it is not found/or it takes me to a reminder that I had worked on previously. Any help would be seriously appreciated!

Hi Adam,

This has been escalated and we are waiting for news.

Hey Neil,

My sincere apologies for the tardy response.

I have my 'main' Google account from Google Workspaces that I use for this app, then another Google account that I share with my household that is used to control our Google Doorbell and Google Nest- I made sure that it was not the one that is currently active.

My issue is still not solved- I am not sure but sometimes I think it might be getting worse.

ANY help you or the community can provide is most appreciated!!!

Staying tuned,

Adam

Hi Adam, if you have time to post a link to a short video clip showing the problem that might help the team reproduce the issue, and get it fixed quicker.

Hey Neil,

Thank you so much for the prompt response and forgive me for what I'm about to ask.. I can't wrap my head around how I would send you a video link as usually I use my Google camera and video app to record all that stuff but I can't reconcile how I would video my own phone. Would it work if I used my wife's iPhone and then sent the video to myself and then able to post it for you here? If this is a very simple solution I apologize in advance but I just can't figure it out!

Hi Adam, the easiest way would be to film the problem on your device using Screen Recorder (usually included in your phone's apps), then upload it directly to YouTube (you can set it to 'unlisted') and copy/paste the link here. If it's too much hassle, some screenshots would help too as I can't reproduce the problem.

I am also experiencing this annoying issue. If I have a number of due reminders, they show as notifications on my phone. If I click on one of the notifications that isn't the first one in the list, the first one opens anyway. I would say this has started happening in the last week or so. I would have thought it would be fairly easy to try to replicate. Create a few reminders. Wait until they all appear as due in notifications. Select one, other than the first one in the list of notifications and click to open it from the notifications and the first reminder opens instead. Even if it's just recently been marked as done.

I have cleared the cache and still experience the issue. As I said, it's a recent change.

Thanks for the clear instructions Victoria, I've reproduced the problem and shared he video with the Dev team. I'll post back here when I hear something, meanwhile please also "send feedback" to help prioritize the issue.

I'm having the same issue:
When you have more than one reminder in your notification bar and you tap on the oldest, the newest notification reminder is instead opened but the oldest reminder in the notification bar which you tapped on is dismissed from the notification bar and you have to go to the calender and find the reminder on the original date and time if you have to change the date and/or time or edit the text. This has been going on for many weeks now and probably started since the last update. This should be working as it have for many years.
I only have one google account on my smartphone.

WOW great news! Thank you Victoria and Neil. I was still trying to figure out how to screenshot it for you whole successfully replicating the issue.

Please let me know if you need anything further from me to help- happy to oblige.

I am very much looking forward to what you and the team are able to uncover.

Staying tuned.......

I have experienced the same very annoying problem.  Additionally, if a notification is for a prior day reminder and there are no other notifications, I get an "event not found" when I click on the notification.  So annoying!!

@adam

it would be useful if you could rename this thread to something more descriptive as it's become the main thread on this topic, and the thread I'm sharing with the Dev team. Thanks :-)

For now the problem where reminders just don't show at all on Samsung devices is being considerate to be a different bug, but the two might end up being related.

Meanwhile, thank you everyone for your patience with this.

I am experiencing exactly as Victoria Maggs describes, for the past week or so, on my Pixel 5.

I do have multiple Google accounts enabled on the phone, not sure if that is a factor.

It is very frustrating, I repeatedly accidentally edit the wrong reminder. Hope a fix makes its way out soon.

Hi Team.
I am facing the same issue here.
The issue is present only after some update.
This issue was not there a month ago.
So looks like a new bug.
I have tried to wipe data for the Calendar app, but problem stays the same. Wiped data and also cache.
Now that I have mentioned the update. I can try to find an older APK and I will let you know in which version was this bug introduced.
Other than that you Google guys are doind an excellent job 😉 Thanx for all the Google goodnesses 👍😉

I have exactly the same issue with reminders (opening one reminder opens another one) and this behaviour is hruting my productivity. I tried clear app data and removing all future and pending reminders for my another Google account but it did not work. Maybe I could remove old reminders of this other google account. Hope this get fixed soon. Good luck

I have the same problem and this only started happening after the fix was made to bring back notifications on Reminders which suddenly stopped last month.

I am also having this issue. I see several reviews in the Play Store that mention it as well. Selecting from the drop down of reminders in the notification tray sends me to the same reminder every time regardless of which one I actually select. What's more frustrating is the reminder that I actually selected gets removed from the notifications and I have to go find it within the calendar itself to edit it or mark it as done. If I'm not careful, I'm going to lose track of my reminders.

Unfortunately I'm also experiencing this problem. This is not only very annoying but also can be hurtful - when a reminder is opened (not the one I've clicked on) all the other reminders get marked as read and disappear from notifications.

This is not a phone specific problem as I'm in the middle of moving from Xiaomi Mi A2 to Poco F3 and the problem is there in both.

This is an ongoing problem which is being worked on - please also use "send feedback" in the app to help prioritize it, and hopefully I'll have some news soon.

Neil! This is great news. I am at my wits end with these issues- I think the apps general performance has suffered as well.

Very eager to hear more, please keep me posted.

I have the same problem. It's actually quite annoying...

Clearing the cache did not help. I have also reported this issue via the feedback form a week ago.

Hi all, I also have the issue.

I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't a Android related issue because the two application I developed now have the same problem.

I feel like it's caused by a recent dependency update so my guess is that using an older version of the app would fix the issue (while we wait for the fix).

Another one here, with the same symptoms - a month at least, only one Google account on my Pixel 4XL.

Took me this long with confusion to seek out answers and find this thread.  Happy to see it's not just me!

Same issue here. Tap reminder notification in the shade for reminder1 and get sent to reminder 2.

Multiple Google accounts on a Pixel 5. Seems to only affect my personal gmail.com account and not my work account though.

I am having the same problem. To solve it soon, I sent feedback to google calendar. Here you have the instructions if you want to do it too: ttps://support.google.com/calendar/answer/6110973?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid

The more we are, the sooner they will fix it.

Any updates from the Google team about this? I have the same issue and sent feedback through the Google Calendar app as well.

It's not uncommon for me to set up multiple reminders for the same time and it's definitely an annoyance every time I open one of my reminder notifications and it opens the wrong one... This is definitely interfering with my daily productivity.

Please let us know if your team is looking into this issue and if it will be fixed in an update soon!
Thanks.
