The information below is for the new version of Google Calendar. If you use the old version, sign in to Google Calendar and then refresh this page.

See someone's calendar availability

If someone has shared their calendar with you, you can check when they're available.

See someone else's calendar

You can't add other people's calendars from the Google Calendar app. However, once you add the calendars from your computer, you'll see them in the app.

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. On the left side of the page, find "Other Calendars."
  3. In the box, type the name or email address of the person whose calendar you want to see. Select their name.
    • If their calendar is shared publicly or within your organization, you'll see their events on your calendar.
    • If their calendar isn't shared publicly, you can send a request to have them share their calendar with you. You'll get an email when their calendar has been shared.

When you look at more than one calendar a time, you'll see both people's schedules side-by-side.

Tip: To show or hide their calendar, click the person's name in the "Other calendars" section.

Find a time that someone is free

If someone has shared their calendar with you, or is part of your work, school, or other organization, you can check if they're free or busy when adding them to an event.

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. In the bottom right, click Create eventAdd.
  3. In the "Add Guests" box, type the name or email address of the person you want to invite.
  4. Under the event title, click Find a time. If the guest you invited has shared their calendar with you, you'll see their schedule.

Troubleshoot problems

Someone's calendar only says "free" or "busy"

When people share their calendar, they can decide how much information others can see.

The person who shared their calendar with you might have given you permission to see if they're free or busy, but not see all event details.

I can't edit events on a calendar that's been shared with me

When people share their calendar, they can decide what kinds of permissions others have.

If you can't edit events on their calendar, they probably gave you permissions to see, but not edit, event details.
