Add reminders in Google Calendar

You can add reminders in Google Calendar. Reminders carry over to the next day until you mark them as done. For example, if you create a reminder to make a restaurant reservation, you'll see the reminder each day until you mark it as done.

Your reminders are private and can’t be shared with anyone else.

Create a reminder

  1. Open the Google Calendar app Calendar.
  2. In the bottom right corner, tap Create event Create event and then Reminder.
  3. Type your reminder, or choose a suggestion.
  4. Choose a date, time, and frequency.
  5. In the top right, tap Save.
  6. You'll see the reminder in the Google Calendar app. When you mark a reminder as done, it will be crossed out in the Google Calendar app, and will stay on the date you marked it as done.

Note: You can also create reminders in Inbox, Keep, and the Google App.

See or hide your reminders

You'll see reminders you create in the Google Calendar, Inbox, and the Google app.

Google Calendar app

You'll see your reminders in the Google Calendar on the day your reminder is scheduled.

If you set the reminder for a day in the future, you won't see it until that date.

Reminders in other Google products

Reminders you create in Inbox, Keep, and the Google app will also show in the Google Calendar.

Edit a reminder
  1. Open the Google Calendar app Calendar.
  2. Tap the reminder you want to update.
  3. Tap Edit Edit.
  4. Update any event details.
  5. In the top right corner, tap Save.
Remove a reminder

To remove a reminder from your calendar, you can either mark it as done or delete it.

Mark a reminder as done

  • If you see a reminder in your calendar, swipe it right.
  • If you open the reminder to see its details, tap Mark as done.

Delete a reminder

You can delete a reminder to delete it completely from your calendar.

  1. Open the Google Calendar app Calendar.
  2. Tap the reminder you want to delete.
  3. In the top right, tap More More.
  4. Tap Delete and then OK or Delete.

Hide all reminders

  1. Open the Google Calendar app Calendar.
  2. In the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Reminders. 

Troubleshoot problems 

Don’t see reminders

You might not see a reminder because:

  • You deleted the reminder or marked it as done.
  • You snoozed the reminder until you reach a certain location. Once you’re there, the reminder will show up.
  • The Reminders calendar isn't visible. To show the calendar, tap Menu Menu and then Reminders.
Didn’t get a notification for a reminder

You'll only get notifications for reminders scheduled for a specific time.
