SMS notifications for Google Calendar

If you use Google Calendar through Google Apps for Work, Education, or Government, you can get text (SMS) notifications for your events.

Turn on SMS notifications

  1. Open Google Calendar.
  2. In the top right, click Settings Settings and then Settings and then Mobile Setup.
  3. Add your country and phone number.
  4. Click Send Verification Code.
  5. When you get the text message, enter the code you received in the Verification code box.
  6. Click Finish setup.
  7. Choose what you want to get notified about, and when.
  8. At the bottom of the page, click Save.

Cost of SMS notifications

The Google Calendar app doesn't charge you to send SMS notifications. However, your standard text message rates will apply. For questions about your text messaging rate, contact your service provider.

Turn off SMS notifications

Turn off notifications for all calendars
  1. Open Google Calendar.
  2. In the top right, click Settings Settings and then Settings and then Mobile Setup.
  3. Delete your phone number and verification code.
  4. At the bottom of the page, click Save.
Turn off notifications for certain calendars
  1. Open Google Calendar.
  2. In the top right, click Settings Settings and then Settings and then Calendars.
  3. At the top, click the Calendars tab.
  4. Click Edit notifications.
  5. On the right, uncheck the boxes in the SMS column.
  6. At the bottom of the page, click Save.
